Deewani Mastani- Song Review by Shoby

Deewani Mastani- Song Review by Shoby

Mastani Bai, the love of Bajirao Ballal when dances in ecstacy, the sequence becomes Deewani Mastani. A song with the lyrics that show the passion and love, Mastani cherishes for Bajirao. It also depicts deep feelings of sadness and desperation for her love.

Shot on a lavish set which looks like some palace of Bajirao, Deewani Mastani sets the right tone for the movie. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has attempted mujras and classical dance forms earlier in Devdas as well. Deewani Mastani is different in a sense that he has used Deepika Padukone in an altogether different phenomenon.

Check the way she looks at Bajirao in the whole song and the way she looks at him at the last very moment. Initial looks are happy, where she is shown as celebrating and showcasing her love for Bajirao, showing the passion at her fullest. And the one last look, just serene, calm, silent and straight, showing the sadness and desparation.

Music is ggod with a flavor of Indian Folk and sung elegently by hte nighingale Shreya Ghoshal. Backdrop folk sounds and alaaps also complement the sound quite beautifully.  Choreographed by very gracefully. With good costumes & sets, sweet voice of Shreya and on top of all stunning looks by Deepika, Deewani Mastani deserves thousands likes. It would be a highlight of Bajirao Mastani, I believe.
