Coke Studio Season 10- A Decade of Music

Almost a decade ago, we witnessed a big bang at our
very own Pakistani music industry with the arrival of Coke Studio. It was
something not seen/ heard before in the history as far as our Pakistani music
is concerned. No doubt, we have earlier seen some real success stories in our
pop industry in 90s and the legacy was truly carry forwarded by some pop-rock
icons in early 21st century but with the passage of time, we observed a real
decline in the quality and quantity of music being created in our country.
For many obvious reasons, like many other fields,
our music industry also got effected negatively but one thing remain stood tall
and that was our local version of international music platform Coke Studio.
The corporate giant Coke collaborated with
legendary music composer/ producer Rohail Hyatt and they went on to create some
real gems in the form of musical melodies. Rohail produced initial six seasons
of the show and gave us some unforgettable tracks with various other artists.
Tracks like ALLAH Hoo, Garaj Baras, Duur, Jal Pari, Alif ALLAH, Daanah Pah
Daanah, Ik Aarzu, Ni Oothaan Waale, Kangna, Pyaar Naal, Rang Laaga, Paisay Da
Nasha, Kamlee, Charkha Nolakha, shq Aap Bhe Awalla, Rabba Sacheya, Kandyaari
Dhol Geet, Dasht-e-Tanhai and many others are still being heard by the masses.
Coke Studio saw some real great artists like Ustaad
Rahat fateh Ali Kha, Abida Parveen, Atullah Isa Khelvi, Ustaad Hussain Bakhsh
Gullo, Arif Loar, Sajjad Ali, along with pop rock icons of our generation Ali
Azmat, Atif Aslam, Noorie and many more in some evergreen live performances.
After Rohail Hayat, Strings continues the show and
produced its seasons 7th, 8th and 9th and they did a brilliant job by having on
board few other artists like Ahmed Jahanzeb, Shiraz Uppal, Noorie, Shani Arshad,
Shuja Haider and Jafar Zaidi.
And now the show is back with its 10th edition,
which is indeed a great milestone reached by the show. List of artists
featuring this season is out. Let’s have a glance on the artists who are ready
to perform this season.
