Mann Mayal (Episode 1)- Review by Shoby

Mann Mayal (Episode 1)- Review by Shoby

Celebrated TV director Haseeb Hassan is back on the small box with the backing of the strong production team of HUM TV with his new Urdu drama serial titled Mann Mayal. Pakistani TV industry is the best in business when it comes to make dramas and HUM TV has been one of the prime originators of classical dramas for past few years. Mann Mayal is written by supremely talented writer Samira fazal.

Mann Mayal constitutes an ensemble cast including Ek Aur Cinderella fame Maya Ali and heartthrob Hamza Ali Abbasi along with Saba Hameed and others. Its pilot episode was premiered on January 25,m 2016.

As expected first episode was primarily an introductory one with major emphasis given on the character sketches of the main characters. A significant share of screen space was given to Manno/ Manahil (Maya) and Salahuddin (Hamza Ali Abbasi).

Manno, a next door girl is  a bit dull in studies and plans to visit a shrine so that she can pray for her success in the upcoming result. She first visits her friend's home where at the door almost collides with her brother Salahuddin. Salahuddin, an ambitious young CSS student who is apparently recognized as a serious and well mannered person.

On the request of Manno, Bia (her friend) along with Salahudin takes her to the shrine where she prays but unfortunately she fails in the exam whereas Bia passes it and secures A grade. Mannu's father requests Salahuddin's father to ask Salahuddin to give some tuition classes to Mannu and Salahuddin agrees to teach her. It is evident from Salahuddin's gestures that he has kind of a liking for Mannu whereas Mannu thinks that he is stubborn & a bit more than serious.

On the other hand, Mannu's father invites one of his friends to his home who comes with the wedding proposal for Mannu. Everyone in the house knows about the proposal except Mannu herself. She visits Bia's home to study and the episode concludes with a light moment that occurs between her & Salahuddin.

Overall this episode worked as a teaser by building a strong premise for the main story line. Screenplay for this episode was written with utmost perfection and script had a very relatable feeling. Cinematography & art direction for the episode were perfect considering the fact that makers have not tried anything exaggerated and tried to keep the things simple & straight. First sequence where Manno is shown going from one street to another while visiting Bia's home is fabulously pictured.

Story will surely move ahead in upcoming episodes and we may get to see some nice moments and emotionally blended dialogues in next episodes. On the whole, this episode was a balance approach and clicked quite well to me. Waiting for the next episode so that more could be revealed that goes in the lives of Salahuddin & Mannu.

Airlift- Movie Review by Shoby

Airlift- Movie Review by Shoby

3 Hearts out of 5

Some stories demand themselves to be told through a mass medium. Airlift is surely one of those stories about a hero who brought back hundreds in fact thousands of Indian to their country back from Kuwait while Saddam Hussain's army attacked Kuwait in early 90s. Raja Krishna Menon took this ambitious project to direct with an ensemble cast comprising of Akshay Kumar, Nimrat Kaur, Murab Kohli and others.

Hero of this film is the beautifully written script & screenplay. Solid proceedings that make you glue your eyes with the screen. It has a firm premise where one man is on a mission to evacuate all Indians in Kuwait during the Iraq-Kuwait war. Its an altogether a very serious phenomenon coupled with a pitch perfect performance by Akshay and Nimrat. To me it is perhaps the best performance of Akshay after Bhool Bhullaya and Nimrat is also a treat to watch. Watch her in the scene where she bursts out. Bang on.

Action sequence are directed with great perfection. Combat Attack scenes are shown with utmost authenticity. There is a beautiful emotional bond visible among refugees. It shows how one calamity can bring all those who are a nation but doesn't recognize the same before an actual event occurs.

Music is good and goes well with the film's proceedings, Although a couple of tunes are borrowed from some other songs. No doubt, this film relied heavily on some solid performances from the core cast and they have been successful in delivering the same. Overall, its a nice one time watch.

Sanam Teri Kasam- Music Review by Shoby

Sanam Teri Kasam- Music Review by Shoby

1 Heart out of 5

Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane is making her Bollywood debut in Radhika Rao-Vinay Sapru's directorial Sanam Teri Kasam, which also stars Ali Fazal and Harshvardhan Rane. Sound track of the album is released, where music is composed by Himesh Reshammiya with lyrics by various lyricists. Lets analyse its music here:

Sanam Teri Kasam- Album starts with a slow tempo signature Himesh Reshammiya's track Sanam Teri Kasam sung by Ankit Tiwari & Palak Muchhal. Although Himesh has tried his best to compose a beautiful ballad with emotional lyrics of Sameer but song didn't clicked as it should have been. It has a reprise version at the end of the album as well sung by Mohammed Irfan & Palak Muchhal.

Kheech Meri Photo- Neeti Mohan, Akasa Singh & Darshan Raval. Himesh composed Selfie Le Ley Re for Bajrangi Bhaijaan and he has now done another dance number with "photo" as its primary content. Its a fun track which might look well in movie.

Bewajah- Himesh himself sings Bewajah,  a sad song penned by Sameer in his very own style. Track picks up the pace with the passage of a few moments. Its once again a forgettable track.

Tera Chehra- Arijit Singh in his unique voice croons Tera Chehra. Although lyrics by Shabbir Ahmed are beautiful & musical arrangement is simple and smooth but it also fails to leave any mark.

Haal-E-Dil- Indian Idol winner Sreerama Chandra Mynampati and Neeti Mohan has sung male & female versions of this song respectively. It has the best lyrics of the whole album.

Ek Number- Himesh penned and composed this fun track which heavily relies on some beautiful singing by Neeti Mohan.

Main Teri Yaadon Mein- This one has a feel of techno club number which will definitely go well in the proceedings of the movie. Sung by Arijit Singh, this track is a blend of some foot tapping musical arrangement & sad emotional lyrics by Subrat Sinha.

On the whole, this album has nothing much to offer and hit combo of Himesh & Sameer has somewhere failed this time to provide the expected level of musical entertainment.

Rocky Handsome- Teaser Review by Shoby

Rocky Handsome- Teaser Review by Shoby

Favorite director of thriller genre Nishikant Kamat is back after giving excellent thriller Drishyam last year. This team he has teamed up with another superb actor John Abraham for his upcoming thriller Rocky Handsome.

Its one of those solid teasers that really asks for more. John Abraham is looking strong & positive. Its obvious from the teaser that we are surely going to see two dimensions of Rocky (John Abraham) in the movie. One being deadly, dangerous and powerful Rocky and one being a sweet charming heroic handsome.

Watch it for a heavy dose of action by John Abraham.

Cant wait for the complete trailer & movie.

Chalk n Duster- Movie Review by Shoby

Chalk n Duster- Movie Review by Shoby

2.5 Hearts out of 5

I believe art is said to be pure only when it touches your heart. You don't always need a plethora of entertainment, fun, masty & thrill to make a movie works wonders. Sometimes a nice small relateable story can prove to be a good affair, if told in a meaningful way.

Jayant Gilatar starrer Chalk n Duster which stars a bouquet of fine performers primarily Shabana Azmi, Juhi Chawla & Divya Dutta deals with a very sensitive & forgotten but a very serious issue that our societies in India & Pakistan are facing. We, the public of Pakistan & India has to deal with an issue of quality education. Our school education system is divided into Government sector & private sector institutes. Government institutes are considered not that much trustworthy when it comes to good education but private sectors have made a name for themselves in this field.

Dilemma is that these private schools have changed the dimensions by converting this noble profession into a business. Race of topping in charts and becoming number one is actually putting up a serious dent in the ethics of the society and same is evident in the school systems.

Chalk n Duster tells us the story of two school teachers Vidya (Shabana Azmi) and Jyoti (Juhi Cawla) who fight for their pride. Foreign return MBA (Aarya Babbar) who is the son of the school owner takes the charge of school as the new owner & aims to bring his school at the top spot. He replaces the veteran principal with Kamini Gupta (Divya Dutta) who is stubborn, cunning & wicked.

After becoming new principal, Ms. Gupta reshapes the school system with new structure & rules and with her tactics she indirectly force senior teachers to resign. She terminates Ms. Vidya citing the reason that she is outdated, incompetent & incapable. Ms. Vidya suffers a cardiac arrest and Ms. Jyoti helps her. Seeing this, Ms. Gupta terminates her too. Then the two senior teachers start a fight to prove the world who is right.

Although, Chalk n Duster is plagued with a major problem (slow pace), it works in pieces due to some decent performances by the supremely talented cast. Shabana Azmi, Juhi Chawla & Divya Dutta have delivered brilliant performances in their own capacity. Jackey Shroff & Rishi Kapoor are also good in their nicely written cameos.

As stated earlier film's pace is slow and therefore proceedings looks exaggerated. Screenplay is just OK however it could have been much better. Editing is poor. Baba Azmi has done some nice cinematography to show the environment of a private school. There is nothing special to talk about the musical score of the movie. Well I personally loved the word recess when it appeared in place of interval. Reminded me of my own school.

This film is apparently made to deliver a strong message regarding honor & respect of teachers who makes us who we are and play a very important part in the success of one's career. It also tells the world that education which is considered to be a scared profession should not be made a business. And if we go only with these valid points which the film tries to make, we will definitely say that films like this still work today, after all we all live in the relevant society.

Aab e Hayat (Episode 15)- Review by Shoby

Aab e Hayat (Episode 15)- Review by Shoby

Episode 15 of Aab e Hayat revolves around the biggest tragedy that Salaar & his family are going through and rightly so. You will find lots of emotional scenes & dialogues in it with bereaved moments.

It takes off with a lengthy scene of the dramatic revealing of Salaar's illness in front of Sikander Usman (Salaar's father) and Amama. Just before the big secret reveals, Umera Ahmed prepares the readers with a light moment where Hameen generously gives all the toys of Anaya, Raeesa & Jibreel to charity in the school citing the reason "Charity is not a sin". Just to set the records straight, Hameen's talks now a days mostly revolves around whether a particular phenomenon belongs to the definition of sin or not.

Sikander Usman gets to know about the illness of Salaar through one of his contacts and he tries to contact Salaar who doesn't find the bravery to face his father at the high moment. Sikander unknowingly tells Amama about this and as expected she gets shock. (I believe "shock" is not a right word for her emotional outburst. She was literally jolted by this news). Umera's words are like the perfect representation of the situation, "Wahan Pichtawa tha, Yahan Be'yaqeeni".

Upon asking why he always make him get worried, Salaar responds to his father saying, "Is baar to main ne kuch nahi kiya papa". Absolute stunner of a sentence, where Umera has beautifully depicted one hell of a torture Salaar has been going through.

Amama cries in front of Salaar and her pain & hopelessness is pretty much evident when she asks, "Salaar! Tum theek ho jao ge na"??? Pain, mental suffering, distress & hopelessness was visible in this pseudo-hope containing sentence.

On another note, Salaar's illness is badly effecting his dream project of "an independent global Islamic banking system". His prime investors are turning down the idea and leaving their organizing group which has caused almost 70% of decline in the initial capital. This further enhances Salaar's anxiousness & worries.

As Amama got news about the illness from Sikander on call, Hameen feels that dada is suffering from cancer and asks Jibreel about the same. Even thoough Jibreel tried his level best by asking him not to disclose the secret, he eventually tells it to Raeesa (Chunni) who in response utters "WOW". Hameen almost scolds her for her apparently unexpected response and say, "Tumhain kehna chahiye tha Oh My GOD..." Yes, this is Hameen for you and one & only Hameen could have said it.

Umera Ahmed never looks preachy when she delivers yet another important message. Food for thought given in this episode lies in the monologue, "Hum woh sarey kaam pehley kar lena chahtey hain, jo humarey nafs ko pasand hain. Woh sarey kaam zindagi ke akhri hissey ke liye chor ker rakh detey hain, jo ALLAH ko pasand hain". Lots of lessons to be learnt here. Well done Umera.

Amama & Jibreel gets a bit of time while packing where Jibreel delivers an excellent response when he says "Hope" is the thing that he love the most in QURAN PAK".

At the end of the episode, Salaar gets to know that Jibreel is aware of his illness and when he sees his 9 odd year child crying he instantly decides to go for the first surgery. Family always comes first and Salaar takes a right decision here.

This episode did not took the proceedings much further & lacks the pace, however it is understood as such an episode was necessary in the plot where Salaar's family particularly Amama's reaction was presented in front of us. I am not worried that not much developments were made in the story as far as this particular episode is concerned. However I am feeling next couple of episodes will also focus on Salaar's illness & probably his treatment.

Here I am signing off with get well soon wishes for Salaar & a humble request to Ms. Umera Ahmed. Dear Ms. Umera Your fans still feel gloomy & sad when they recall the ending of your epics like Amar Bail & Mann o Salwa, So one request, please this time, save the protagonist.

HBL PSL- Now Backed by Media Giants... Feature by Shoby

HBL PSL- Now Backed by Media Giants... Special Feature by Shoby

First edition of Pakistan Super League (i.e. HBL PSL) is just about to commence at the start of February 2016 and as its starting date is coming nearby, it is converting into an extremely interesting & media driven phenomenon.

As we all know that Franchise of Karachi (Karachi Kings) is purchased by media giant ARY Group and (rightly so) this media group is leaving no stone unturned to make it the most popular team of PSL.

They arranged a super cool logo unveiling ceremony at National Stadium Karachi for the same titled as "Karachi Night" which featured many cricketers & artists and made an exciting & entertaining event for the Karachiites. Pakistani rock star Ali Azmat & Faakhir rocked the night and presence of different cricketers including Team's captain Shoaib Malik made it an icing on the cake.

Franchise of Lahore titled Lahore Qalandars have now joined hands with another media giant Geo (Jang Group) and this announcement was made by the authorities of Lahore Qalandars in the logo/ kit unveiling ceremony in Lahore.

This ceremony also featured some very talented artists like Ali Sethi, Nabeel Shoukat Ali, Pappu Saeen &  latest singing sensation Israr. Many cricketers were also present in the ceremony and a cricket crazy crowd was present there to support Lahore.

Although other three teams Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zulmi and Islamabad United are a bit silent in this regard till now, I do hope that coming days will see these Franchises promoting themselves in equally interesting manner. Pakistan, where there is a draught of cricket from quite sometime has now at least some beautiful moments to cheer & celebrate.

I believe with this valuable participation of two great media groups, HBL PSL which is slated to be started on February 5, 2016 will surely going to be a massive hit and Pakistanis will surely able to bring the game back for this cricket hungry nation. After all, we all love cricket and want cricket to be played in our very own land, which has been able to produce gems of the game earlier.

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani- Movie Review by Shoby

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani- Movie Review by Shoby

1.5 Heart out of 5

You have a liberty to call it a writer's block but I prefer to say that I literally have nothing to write over this over-hyped not so funny comedy flick directed by Nadeem Baig. From the cherished director of hit and acclaimed TV serials  like Azar Ki Ayegi Baraat (its sequels) and Pyarey Afzal, I did not expected such sort of half backed product. With big TV giant ARY Films behind thee film, it was expected to turn out a much better affair.

Story line is shaky with three husbands Hamza Ali Abbasi, Ahmad Ali Butt & Vasay Chaudhry (hell tired of their married lives) desperately want a chance to live a life with no hassle of families &  their respective family problems. Their best buddy Humayun Saeed takes them to an all man journey in Bankok by telling lies about his illness to their wives. Caught by their wives on the scene, the family lives of three friends get disturbed. On the other hand, Humayun Saeed gets ready to marry an overly spoiled (selfie loving) daughter of a multi millionaire (Javed Sheikh) and Bushra Ansari. Rest is left to be watched by yourself.

The biggest problem with JPNA is its story line & script. Believe me, whatever I told above looks good if it is executed in a meaningful way but the dilemma for the movie is that the director seems to be totally clueless about how to proceed the film. Some typical glitches are there in the plot. I am leaving the errors that visibly appear in the plot & screenplay so that your time is not wasted.

Film looks like more of an ad campaign for top most brands from food chains to beauty products to dairy milks. I believe some silliness is always welcome in comedy genre but once again I reiterate that at least some sort of believable moments should be there in the proceedings to get the idea straight. Only entertaining factor to me in the movie was Ismail Tara's performance.

With a very few one-liners to tickle your bones, this one is a simple no-brainer pathetically displayed comedy which fails to leave an impact. Songs are just OK and choreography... Lets forget it.

Overall, this movie did not turn out what I expected. Better luck next time.

Pashmina- Song Review by Shoby

Pashmina- Song Review by Shoby

Video of the second song of Abhishek Kapoor's upcoming take on Dicken's Great Expectations starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Katrina Kaif Fitoor has been launched. Title of the track is "Pashmina" and it is composed by Amit Trivedi.

Off the records, for those who might now know, Pashmina (a sort of thread) is used in the embroidery in India, Pakistan and primarily in Kashmir and just for the records, shawls woven in Pashmina are quite famous in this part of the world. This song brings the same sensitivity & sensuality with its lyrics. Swanand Kirkire has penned so uniquely unheard lyrics that you cant help yourself but to fell in love with it.

Composition is yet another typical Amit Trivedi's school of thought in his own voice. Somewhere at the start, it gives a feel of Shikayaten and Yoon To Sola Sawan (from Lootera). Amit has sung it with suitable volume of romance in his voice which was required to deliver the message.

Coming towards the performance of Aditya Roy Kapur & Katrina Kaif, they will surely make you forget everything else. Beautifully choreographed Tango/Jazz/Lyrical dance steps, passion & ultimate authenticity in their gestures and a beautiful ambiance with a backdrop of a painter's studio, this song must get a place in the hearts of those, who love classics.

Bollywood Diaries (2016)- Trailer Review by Shoby

Bollywood Diaries (2016)- Trailer Review by Shoby

Now this one came as a shocker... No not a shocker, in fact a surprise, a very pleasant surprise indeed. I didn't knew anything about this upcoming movie Bollywood Diaries till the time I watched its trailer, which claims to be a tribute to some very talented, hard working and honest artists of our times Amitabh Bachchan, Rajnikanth & Irrfan Khan.

This trailer is nothing but a sheer class. You will witness some great power packed performances from all the actors. Films apparently looks like a bunch of struggle stories about a few wannabe actors. The intensity & strength which primary artists have brought is simply magical.

On the top of it, there is a soundtrack that fits to the premises like nothing other. I am literally impressed. Written & directed by K.D. Satyam and starring Raima Sen, Ashish Vidyarthi, Salim Diwan, this film must appeal the audience courtesy some very fine & solid content.

Here Comes Mohammad Amir Once Again- Feature by Shoby

Here Comes Mohammad Amir Once Again- Feature by Shoby

He made his ODI debut against Srilanka at Dambulla on Jul 30, 2009 and left an unforgettable mark with his medium pace bowling. He further strengthened the impact of his adorable bowling skills in test matches and T20s. His bowling looked like making a huge statement like he was saying, "Hey guys, watch out. As I am I here to stay for long. I am here to rule".

People started calling him a fresh version of cricket legend Waseem Akram. He was honestly a treat to watch against world cricket giants where he made the greats of the games look like in miserable conditions through his versatile deliveries. He came into limelight as one of those very few bowlers in history who could deliver six altogether different deliveries in an over, making pitch a hell for the batsmen. He came, he played, he conquered and then an unfortunate incident occurred...

Team Pakistan was on the tour of England when on Aug 26-29, 2010 at Lords, Amir along with Mohammad Asif and the then skipper Salman Butt were accused of Spot fixing. Amir delivered some extra deliveries and they were noticed by the keen observers who later on declared them part of Fancy Fixing, a term which was not much known in the game of cricket.

These three players were prosecuted in the courts and found guilty for the act. Ultimately they were punished and doors of cricket were closed for them for years to come. Mohammad Amir had five long years when he was not allowed to play cricket for domestic, national & international level.

After a long hiatus of five years, his punishment concluded and he was provided with a clean chit to play for the domestic tournaments in Pakistan. He came back with a bang and showed his class in the tournaments. Few weeks back, he participated in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and once again won hearts through his devastating bowling. And now he has been given yet another golden opportunity to represent his nation on the global stage.

Coming Pakistan- New Zeeland tournament will witness the much talked about return of this gem of a cricketer. A few players initially refused to share the dressing room with him but PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) and Amir's fan supported him which made them withdraw from their decision.

Now I believe this debate should be over that whether a guilty and convicted player should play for the nation or not. Ok he has done corruption and he has been proven guilty but at the same time we should not forget that he has learnt a lesson as he has tasted the punishment on the account of the same and now he has been declared clear to play. So one should not further discuss his eligibility.

To me, Amir has this once in a lifetime opportunity now. He should be feeling all the nerves along with the excitement that yes, I have been given this opportunity and I am not at all going to waste this chance.

As stated by PCB chairman and others, we all should support Amir now so that he may not panic on the field. And for Amir, he should forget the dark episodes of past and should now focus entirely on cricket. He has a lot to give to Pakistan as lots of cricket is still remaining for this young talented sportsman. Wishing Green Shorts and Mohammad Amir, all the very best for the future.

Wazir- Movie Review by Shoby

Wazir- Movie Review by Shoby

3.0 Hearts out of 5

Bejoy Nambiar known for his off-beat thriller drama David collaborated with Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Big B and Farhan Akhtar for another thriller drama Wazir, a movie that relies heavily on its tight script and acting prowess by the supremely talented cast.

Happiness & dreams of a small family gets shattered when daughter of Danish (Farhan Akhtar) and Ruhana (Aditi Rao Hydari) gets killed in a fire exchange that took place between officer Danish Ali & a terrorist Rameez. Ruhana blames Danish for the demise of their daughter & leaves him. Pandit Omkarnath Dhar (Amitabh Bachchan) a handicapped chess master approaches Danish and they make a unique bond, as both of them have lost their daughters in incidents. Pandit Dhar accuses a welfare minister as the culprit behind his daughter's murder and wants revenge. Rest is worth to be seen in theatres.

Best thing about this thriller is its length. Editing has been done intelligently & ongoings are tightly made to be concluded in just about perfect time. Although you may find several errors in the plot but screenplay written by Abhijat Joshi is much convincing & engaging. It has an unbelievable climax to die for.

No points for guessing about the acting. Amitabh Bachchan has given yet another solid performance whereas Farhan Akhtar was also seen in a good touch. Brief cameos from John Abraham & Neil Nitin Mukesh are superb. Aditi Rao Hydari has played her part gracefully.

Except Tere Bin, its overall soundtrack lacks the required punch but background score is a winner and it enhances the thrill, drama & intensity of the situations. Action sequences are nicely directed and one of the best moments of the film is the tablo performance at the end.

Overall, this is a a good one time film watch and obviously a perfect start for the year 2016.

Bachaana (2016)- Trailer Review by Shoby

Bachaana (2016)- Trailer Review by Shoby

After delivering a super successful film Bin Roye (2015), TV giant Hum Films is back with yet another roller coaster of action romance comedy & drama titled Bachaana, directed by Nasir Khan. Trailer of the film is released and film itself is slated to be released in February 2016.

Trailer of Bachaana gives a super cool look of the movie where maximum limelight is given to the lead artists Mohib Mirza and Sanam Saeed. Supremely talented Adeel Hashmi has also featured in this decent looking trailer.

Trailer promises an endeavour full of fun, masty, romance & obviously gun-shots filled action. DOP is excellent as Mauritius is pictured beautifully in frames. Storyline apparently looks like a fun Rom-Com where a guy from Pakistan will save a girl from India from a bunch of goones (Now that's quite interesting...).

Mohib Mirza is looking marvellously confident delivering dialogues with utmost authenticity. Sanam is also looking sanguine depicting the ease with which she has enacted.

Some fine comedy moments are also present in the trailer and dialogues like "Dhoni Ki Fan ho?" "Nahi, Afridi ki". "Phir to ALLAH hi bachaey" and "Larki Pakistani ho ya Hindustani... Larki Larki hoti hai," sets up the right tone for the great cinematic affair.

Although not much music from the soundtrack is revealed in the trailer, I hope it has a decent musical score and some soothing romantic tunes would be there. May be if one nice shot at the end of the trailer was dedicated to a slow tempo song, it would have been much more impactful.

Overall, this trailer assures a feel good movie that one can enjoy with the family in the theatres.

Yeh Fitoor Mera (Title Track)- Review by Shoby

Yeh Fitoor Mera (Title Track)- Review by Shoby

Three brilliant artists (Swanand Kirkirey, Amit Trivedi & Arijit Singh) meet together to create this beautiful song. Fitoor starring Aditya Roy Kapur & Katrina Kaif has this magical title track Yeh Fitoor Mera.

It has the flavor of typical Amit Trivedi's songs and it has a striking similarity to Mann'marziyan & Shikayaten from the film Lootera.

Video of the song shows some lovely moments from the film.

Sanam Re- Music Review by Shoby

Sanam Re- Music Review by Shoby

3.0 Hearts out of 5

Divya Khosla Kumar's debut directorial Yaariyan had one of the biggest hit soundtrack the year it was released. Therefore, a lot of expectations are attached to her second film Sanam Re. With music & lyrics featuring various artists, lets see, how the end product looks like.

Gazab Ka Hai Yeh Din- Album starts with this youth based track, depicting dreams & enthusiasm today's youth has. Manoj Muntashir has penned the lyrics whereas Amaal Malik has composed it. It is a very unlike of Arijit's songs and may appeal the audience only in the movie. Use of Guitars in the middle of the track is awesome.

Sanam Re- Title track of the film is the second in the album. When two most sensational artists of this age Arijit & Mithoon join hands to croon a soothing composition with truly beautiful lyrics, the end result becomes "Sanam Re". It has the tendency to make you go nostalgic. Use of modern rock musical instruments With such soft lyrics, this track is surely a treat for the music lovers.

Hua Hain Aaj Pehli Baar- Malik duo (Amaal & Armaan) along with Palak Muchhal behind the mic to give this yet another serene track. Soft romantic lyrics like Main tum se ishq karney ki, ijazat RAB se laya hoon composed with excellent musical arrangement makes this song as a perfect beautiful love ballad. This one should be warmly welcome by the young couples in the upcoming Valentines.

Humne Pee Rakhi Hai- Looks like one party song is mandatory in every other movie now a days and this album is no different in this regard as it has this one which will be the first choice of the youth on dance floors. Typical desi party lyrics with jumping musical arrangements make this one as an out & out party track. Lyrics & composition are very much similar to Johny Johny from Its Entertainment.

Kya Tujhe Ab Ye Dil Bataye- Pakistani pop singer Falak Shabbir croons this slow tempo tune with sad lyrics. This track gives a glimpse of the pain & grief of a broken heart.

Tere Liye- Mithoon with another sensation Ankit this time for this yet another slow sad track. This one depended upon unique pitch of Ankit's usual voice. Although it apparently looks like a situational track, however it couldn't click to me the way it was supposed to do.

Tum Bin- Nightingale Shreya Ghoshal sings this yet another version of famous poem Tum Bin. Although earlier Tum Bin was successful in getting a status of cult, this time Rashmi Virag has written some equally beautiful lyrics & Shreya has sung it with all the required emotions.

Chhote Chhote Tamashe- Everyone's favorite always smiling singer Shaan is back with another fun track. This song has a deep meaning hidden inside its innocently naughty lyrics that life is all about living it to the fullest & to make every moment wonderful & worth remembering.

On the whole, album of Sanam Re succeeds in providing what is promised by a Divya Kumar's film.My picks are Sanam Re and Hua Hain Aaj Pehli Baar.

Adnan Sami Khan Gets Indian Citizenship... A Rolling Stone Gathers No Moss

Adnan Sami Khan Gets Indian Citizenship... A Rolling Stone Gathers No Moss (A Feature by Shoby)...

Artist, no matter what field they belong to, are considered as the ambassadors of love & peace for the world. At the same time, they are regarded as the representatives of their nation & homeland. Everyone of us belongs to a specific country and it is quite evident that every true patriotic citizen feels proud in his country. Ghar ki khatir so dukh jhene, ghar to akhir apna hai...

Many artists from Pakistan visit India & their artists visit Pakistan for the sake of cultural & art based activities. Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Shakil Siddiqui, Naseem Vicky, Naseer uddin Shah and many others visit their neighboring country to showcase their talent while keeping the grace & respect of their homeland alive.

Recently, Adnan Sami Khan who hails from Pakistan has acquired citizenship of India. It is pertinent to mention here that he was already working in India for almost 15 years and has earned quite a fame there. There is no doubt about his skills & abilities as far as music is concerned. He is a brilliant music composer, an excellent keyboard player & a very versatile singer. Apart from doing some independent projects like music albums (Kabhi To Nazar Milao, Tera Chehra etc), he has also given original soundtracks for various Bollywood movies (Lucky- No Time For Love & Sadiyan). Having said that no one should forget that he actually belongs from Pakistan and Pakistan is the land that made him The Adnan Sami.

He used to feature for a long tenure in an episodic program on Pakistani national TV (PTV) and also worked as a singer, musician & lead artist in showman of Lollywood Syed Noor's musical romantic drama film Sargam in early 90s.

Now as Adnan Sami has officially been given a status of Indian citizen, I am not at all going to debate on it as I believe that it is a person's very own decision to live in any part of the globe. Above all, I have a firm belief that art & artist is beyond boundaries and an artist should have all the liberty to visit/ live in any part of the world so that everyone gets to enjoy & cherish his art but the problem lies when one starts going below the belt.

After acquiring Indian nationality, Adnan took social media to announce the news. He not only jubilantly announced his newly granted Indian nationality but also renounced his Pakistani citizenship. He also featured in mainstream media where he has shown his ebullience & delight on being the Indian citizen. This is all good for him but at the same time he almost disgracefully revoked his Pakistani nationality and quoted in his interview that "I am spiritually an Indian". He further went on to say that "I was an Indian from the begining as I was born on Indian independence day 15 August". He chanted Indian national patriotic slogan & also colored his social media handle in Indian flag specific colors.

Upon asking the question about recent controversy regarding statements of Amir Khan & Shahrukh Khan, he looked over exaggerated and Times of India quoted him saying, "Had there been intolerance, I would not have taken Indian citizenship. I have never experienced intolerance. There is no intolerance in India".

Many celebrities & journalists have regarded his expressions as disgraceful. Shehkar Gupta, a renowned Indian journalist on his official twitter handle stated, "Know what, I am not flattered Adnan Sami wraps himself in tricolour & says Jai Hind. Can 1 who dumps own motherland be an Indian patriot now".

Adnan Sami's recent statements have not gone well to Pakistani public as well and many artists from Pakistan have also shown their dislike over it.

I personally want to say only one thing, as an artist you should have all the liberties to showcase the talent globally but anyone who forgets his roots have no future in any other place. It is said that He that apes others will never be himself (Kawa Chala Hans Ki Chall, apni bhi bhool gaya).

Seyah Hashia (Episode 10)- Novel Review by Shoby

Seyah Hashia (Episode 10)- Novel Review by Shoby

Some more secrets unveiled as the story progressed a bit further in the 10th episode of Seyah Hashia by Saima Akram Choudary. Let's have a glance on what Seyah Hashia had in its kitty for us this time.

Just connecting from where we halted in the last episode, it started with Ureeda and Adeena sharing the same room in the hostel. Due to Adeena's simple & friendly nature, Ureeda befriends her and she likes her so much that she wishes to make her Bhabhi.

Adeena's mother seems to be worried as she thinks that at this tender age Adeena may get a bit diverted from her career's objective but Bebey makes her believe that Adeena has been doing fine and she is still fondly recalling Abdullah, therefore there is no chance for her to get astray.

Meanwhile Adeena writes her diary recalling Abdullah. Here Ms. Saima has beautifully depicted her emotional agony by stating one excellent monologue," Jab mohabbat bicher jaey to insan sari zindagi judai or hijr ke nohey hi likhta rehta hai". It perfectly describes what Adeena is going through internally.

First ad of Shanzey is ready to be on air and it rejoices her to the fullest. Maheer reminds her that as per her commitment, this was her first & only TV commercial ad. Saima used a very unqiue Term "Hitlerana Mizaaj" for Maheer. Essence of Maheer and many of his emotions were depicted from this phrase including love & being authoritative in love relationship. Yaavar gives Shanzey a proposal to do a drama for him and proposes that he will arrange a handsome earning for her. She initially refuses but (later on in the episode) when her ad gets on air, she gets delighted on the applause she gets and thus regrets why she did that commitment with Maheer.

Maheer's father Taimoor suffers a cardiac arrest and when he gets the news of his father's illness, he instantly leaves everything and travel back to visit his father. Later on we see that Bari Amma feels like missing her son badly and also gets emotional. To a disbelief of everyone, Barey Abba asks her to go to see their son that comes as a pleasant surprise for everyone, however Ureeda (not knowing what actually has happened to her father abroad) feels sad for Maheer & Bari Ammi as she feels all alone in the home.

Flashbacks from the past tells that Bindya is gelling up well with Maheer and this is not going well as far as Beenish is concerned. The relationship of Taimoor & Bindya is almost a reflection of Arsam & Ureeda. Taimoor's mother gets ill and Bindya not only takes a good care of her but also cooks food for them which everyone appreciates whereas Beenish gets angry over her. These chunk of incidents describes that Beenish had that jealous instinct embedded within her from the begining.

Ureeda appreciates Adeena's performance in medical classes and Adeena informs her that she has already studied initial years of medical study. Ureeda asks why she left the studies and Adeena gives one powerful statement that had all the sadness & grief of the world attached to it. Main khud se khafa ho gai thi. This makes Ureeda confused & sad.

Ureeda confesses her love for Arsam in front of Adeena on her query. Ureeda further tells her that it is not possible for them to be a couple as Arsam's mother hates her. One scene, two girls feeling same emotion of sadness at a time.  Adeena ne us ke dukh ko apney dil mein utertey huey mehssos kiya. Excellent stuff Ms. Saima.

From nowhere we witnessed an unexpected entry of Arsala (the daughter of Arsam's Phupo) in this episode. Arsala- an arrogant & below the belt modern foreign return girl, which Ureeda does not like in their first meeting (and rightly so). Saima brings in a beautiful light moment with the statement, "ALLAH janey kahan se uth ker aa gaey hain yeh namooney... Beenish ki susraal  bhi usi pe gai hai".

Another parallel story from the past shows Hashim & Bakhtawar getting settled in their own flat. Please don't mind if I say that from the tone & talks of Hashim, it apparently looks like his thoughts & concepts are like an Atheist (someone who doesn't believe in any Religion and GOD) and when I reached at the end of the episode, this became reality, he was an atheist in actual and this was the reason his parents & family left him. On hearing this news from Hashim's brother, Bakhtawar jolts with the shock.

On another note it is revealed that Daisy, the sister of Taimoor runs away and no points for guessing that Daisy is Bakhtawar- the one who gets married with Hashim. Beenish expresses her happiness over this development and Taimoor watches her celebrating which ultimately leads to his anger. This will surely bring a major dent in their relationship, which ultimately will go in the favor of Bindya. Upcoming episodes will make the situation more clear.

(Off the record, I am getting a valid belief about one of the main character of the novel but obviously I do not want to ruin your party which may come in upcoming episodes by disclosing the suspense. So better for me to just remain calm & silent).

Saima Akram Choudary kept the pace of this episode a bit slow, may be intentionally, as she might be creating a space for some more significant events that will be visible in next chunks.

Lesson to be learnt from this episode:

Apney Piyarey RAB ke liye banda 5 minute bhi na nikaley to kiya faida is zindagi ka.

Fitoor- Trailer Review by Shoby

Fitoor- Trailer Review by Shoby

Mighty talented Abhishek Kapoor is back with a bang with his desi adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic Great Expectations titled Fitoor. With supremely talented Aditya Roy Kapur in lead with gorgeous Katrina Kaif and Tabu in a solid supporting role, Fitoor is looking like an intense romantic drama.

Trailer brings some pertinent moments from the movie where by far Aditya leads from the front. He has completely stolen the show through his acting prowess. This one is looking like yet another splendid performance by this gem of an artist after Ashiqui 2. You got to believe the skills of this great young actor.

Music of Fitoor is composed by versatile musical genius Amit Trivedi, so expect some very unique tunes from this endeavor as well.

Namal (Episode 18)- Novel Review by Shoby

Namal (Episode 18)- Review by Shoby

Uneasy Lies the Head that Wears a Crown

Episode 18 starts off with the famous dialogues from the 1st scene from the 3rd act of part 4th of Shakespeare's play Henry The Fourth. Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown... Here King Henry appears to be tired of holding up such a responsibility that established on him after taking over the throne of King Richard II. Therefore when he utters the famous dialogue Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown he almost summarizes the pain, dilemma & regrets one goes through while enjoying the kingship herald by defeating others.

Nimra moves to the actual story after this dialogue and we find ourselves right where we left in the last episode. Saadi makes Khawar a suspect in front of Hashim Kardar & Jawahiraat. To increase the misery of Jawahirat, Saadi tactfully engages her in the whole incident and presents her as a witness in front of Hashim. Naturally Hashim turns furious over her and asks why she didn't tell him earlier and Jawahiraat does not dare to face him. Nimra beautifully used non verbal communication in the scene and states, Sir uthaney ke liye korey aemaal naamey chahiye hotey hain.

Just having informed that Hashim's father was murdered, Aabdaar is told by Saadi that Hashim got Shero beaten up so that he may get a lesson. I appreciate Nimra that she doesn't lost the primary ongoing here as she has shown Hashim still being captured in the memories of his late father. He recalls the incident of how his father made him live a night in a jail so that he may not develop friendship with bad guys. It tells how the writer was so focussed in her writing and how beautifully she has blended what was happening to Hashim internally.

We all know Nimra is one of the best in business when it comes to detailing of the scenes. Last episode she made us look through her words the actual atmosphere of a court (Katchehri) and this time she phenomenally presents the environment of jail while Faras enters. Exceptional research on court issues. Quoting CRPC 340.

Nimra's sit-com one-liners never stop and good thing about Nimra's writing is, she never looks to be preachy any time. rather she leaves it up to the reader to deduce results. Grand father says, "Magar phir bhi Hanna woh phoohar nahi hai, poocho kiyo? and Hanna responds, "Kiyo ke aap is waqt mujhey naseehat ke mood mein hain". After this beautiful small talk between Hanna and Grand Father, she gives a completely different and quite a very clear definition of phoohar (lazy). Lots of lessons to be leart for our dear female young readers.

Hashim along with Jawaahirat & Shero goes to Dr. Waasti to ask why he hide the actual cause of his father's death and why he changed the results of post mortem report. Here, Jawahiraat takes the limelight and delivers a solid dialogue, in which she actually claims to be a dummy goddess. The monologue of Jawahiraat is a full on clap deserving and believe me if it was shown in a theater, it would have taken a bow & a standing ovation from the crowd. It shows the strength of the writer and ability of her character sketching with respect to Jawahiraat.

Scene featuring Zimer and Jawahiraat is exceptionally depicted. It is imagery at its best. Feels like you are actually watching the images. Well done Nimra.

As the story moves forward, Ahmer tables his resignation to Haroon Ubaid in order to be PRO of Jawahiraat. This move will surely change the aura of the story as Ahmer's role from now onwards is looking a bit complex & confusing and this is quite a notable modification in the characterization.

In this episode, we witnessed yet another power packed sequence between Faras & Zimer discussing the kidney transplant issue. On thing is for sure that they love each other but I cannot really understand why they both cant accept it (Ana'parast- Huh). I am getting a feel, Faras may offer his own kidney as a replacement. Have to wait for the upcoming episodes to see the advancement.

On finding Saadi's claims valid, Hashim calls him and asks for repent. I am sorry but it almost came as a shocker to me and it didn't looked much believable. Somebody like Hashim is not an easy one to give up things, considering the facts about what he has been doing all these 17 last episodes.

Being human, it is almost impossible to believe that someone who has destroyed your life and your family and is an established criminal, even murderer can be forgiven. Nimra quotes yet another beautiful aspect from Quran pak by stating Ayat e Mubarika from Sura e Abasa.

Lesson to be learnt from this episode lies in the sentence,  Toba sirf guilt mehsoos karney or I am sorry keh deney ka naam nahi hai. Yeh raasta badalney ka naam hai.

Now believe me, we all have been waiting for this moment since ages and guess what the most anticipated moment came & went without making any hush-rush. Yet another high moment of the story comes when Zimer confesses in front of the court that Faras Ghazi was innocent in the Waris Ghazi's murder case. It was honest & solid and purely Zimer's type of confession like she is saying, look Ok I confess but whats the big deal in it. And right after this emotional moment, Nimra delivers a 9/11 one-liner. beautiful, which managed to bring smile at the much needed time.

Hashim calls Khawar in Srilanka to discuss something important and offers him a drink by saying, Julius Caesar ke naam. Et tu brute? Famous Shakespearian quote is used here from his play Julius Caesar. This sequence expressed the aggression, agony, anger & grief of Hashim Kardaar. And right after it, Khawar is sent to the same jail where Saadi is living now a days who welcomes him by saying, "Ya Sahib az Sajan (Oh my fellow captive).

Jiway banra, umraan sariyaan (Long lives the groom). Wedding feast is on in Namal as our very own Sadaqat is all set to taste the Shaadi ka ladoo. Everyone from the home goes to attend his wedding leaving Zimer & Hanna behind. Hanna feels lonely and starts reading the same book regarding ancient Sheikh.

Old Sheikh takes her to a small voyage on boat and describes her seven steps of love. He gives an almost perfect example of a cancer patient when Hanna asks she does not look at him and ignored him but she is not forgetting him. He states, Woh theek ho jaey ga to kiya woh sartaan (cancer) ko bhool jaey ga? No, but it will not give him further pain.

Now as Hashim has imprisoned Kahwar in the same private Jail in Colombo (Srilanka) where he has abducted Saadi. Saadi offers Khawar that he will save him by disclosing who the real murderer was but Khawar rejected this proposal.

Zimer at times seems to be a super woman who is capable to do almost every task all alone. She can produce evidences like no one else can.

One thing that is much related to me and found the same in the episode is the dilemma of Sams's charger. Needless to say that it operates only on one switch board reminds me of my own laptop charger :p

Nimra takes her pen to deliver such a strong & clear message in beautiful serene words, ALLAH ke liye larney waley or ALLAH ka NAAM le ker apney mazmoom maqaasid ke liye karney waley kabhi baraber nahi ho saktey.

Episode ends with Jawahiraat planning a double murder with the slave of Haroon Ubaid, Faseeh. She plans to murder Khawar and our very own Sadi. I just want to say one thing at this note to Ms. Nimra... Dear Ms. Nimra, please #SaveSaadi.

Overall this episode appears like making us gear up for the ultimate climax of sorts. Things are though a bit slow but they are steady as we move towards the concluding parts of the story in its totality. However, still a lot of things are scattered and undiscovered.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Deported from India- A Legend Disrespected...

News are it that Pakistani origin legendary singer Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was deported from Hyderabad, India last Thursday by the authorities citing some technical reasons. This act has surely come as a disrespect to the ace singer, who was all set to perform in some concerts there.

As per news circulating, when Rahat sb reached at the airport, he was asked by the authorities to return to UAE from where he flew for India.

It is not new that Pakistani artists had to face issues in India. Earlier Pakistani artists from various fields including Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, famous stand-up comedian Shakil Siddiqui, Adnan Sami and a few others have also been in news for facing some issues in India.

Ok Kanmani Remake by Karan Johar...

Ok Kanmani Remake by Karan Johar...

Official Remake of Tamil romance drama O Kadhal Kanmani (Ok Kanmani) is very much on the cards and it is none other than the celebrated director/ producer Karan Johar, who is remaking it officially. One must not forget that the original was a master piece of the iconic film maker Mani Ratnam.

As per Karan Johar's tweet, a dream team comprising of the best in business like AR Rehman sb, Gulzar sb & Saathiya fame Shad Ali are on board for the endeavour in collaboration with with maverick Mani Ratnam. The hindi remake will bring together the hit jodi of Aashiqui 2, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shradha Kapoor.

It is pertinent to mention that last time when these greats became a team they delivered a beautiful romance musical titles "Saathiya" starring Vivek Oberoi and Rani Mukherjee. I really hope this time too, the reunion leaves the same marks on screen.

In Conversation with Fakhira Batool- Exclusive Interview with Shoby

In Conversation with Fakhira Batool- Exclusive Interview with Shoby
Our national language Urdu has been fortunate enough to witness legends in writing. We have seen writers who have given us classics both in poetry & prose. I personally believe this space is not enough to name all of those icons that have given so much to this language. However sort of a dilemma is that we have not seen much visibility of female writers and therefore only few of the names come to our mind when we talk about Urdu female writers.
Fakhira Batool Naqvi, person behind the epic romantic poem "Tum Mere Kiya Ho" is one of those very few female writers who has made her presence felt in the literary society by portraying diverse emotions in an altogether different manner. Although our national Govt is not giving due share of credit to our icons but international arena respects the talent. Fakhira Batool is the only Pakistani writer who has been honored with two international awards from the literary societies of Albania & China for her work in the field of literature. Translated version of her poem “Suicide” won her Frang Bardhi Literary Award in 2014 and The International Poetry Translation and Research Center (IPTRC) China awarded her for her outstanding work in literature in 2013. It is a distinctive feather on her cap that she is the only female writer who has been honored on such a grand global scale in the world.

On her credit, there are 17 Urdu language books with a mix of her own poetry, collection of poetry of other legends of the business, book based on current affairs related columns and a book dedicated to children's comprising rhymes & poems. It is pertinent to mention here that she is by far the only female Urdu writer in the whole planet who has written a book dedicated to conversational genre (Mukalmati Shairy) and a book for children (Bachey Sarey Sachey). She is the only female writer of Pakistan who has come up with a dedicated book on satirical comedy titled Shar-Aadaten. Here's listing her all books which have been published till date:
1. Palken Bheegi Bheegi Si 2. Chand Ne Badal Orh Lya 3. Kaho Woh Chand Kesa Tha? 4. Ab Bhary Shahr Mein Mujhay Dhoondo 5. Samandar Poochta Ho Ga 6. Door Mat Nikal Jana 7. Bhula Dia Na...? 8. Ghulab Khushboo Bana Gaya Hai 9. Mohabbat Ki Nahein Tum Ne 10. Mohabbat Khas Tohfa Hai 11. Dasht e Tanhai Mein 12. Shar Aadatein (Tanz o Mizah) 13. Tumhein Ham Yad Aaeyen Gey 14. Sargoshi (Columns) 15. Bachey Sarey Sachey 16. Usey Roktey Bhi To Kis Liye 17. HUSSAIN (asws) fateh Hai Karbala Ka
It is an achievement of Shobywood that for the first time ever, we are presenting her interview in English language for our Pakistani as well as global followers. Although she has stopped giving interviews, however when we approached her for an exclusive interview for Shobywood, she was kind enough to accept the request. Bundle of thanks is not enough for her kind gesture. Now without any further ado, let’s read her conversation exclusively made with us.
Note: SW presents Shobywood and FB depicts Fakhira Batool
SW: Maam, please tell us about how you started poetry. FB: Poetry is in our blood. Our ancestors have been bestowed by ALLAH in the form of this art. My grandfather (Dada) Syed Yousaf Ali Naqvi wrote several religious books. My grandfather (Nana) Syed Ameer Ahmed Shah Bukhari was a scholar as well as seasoned poet of this Potohar region, who used to write in multiple languages primarily in Urdu, Punjabi, Potohari (a dialect of Punjabi), and Persian etc. So it is valid to state that poetry breathes in our genes. Same is the case with me.
SW: So, I should better rephrase my question. How you thought about making it public. FB: There was an inter colleges poetry competition and one of our teachers who knew that I could write asked me to write something on the topic of Mazdoor (Labor). So I hold the pen and wrote a satirical comedy on the life events of a labor. It got clicked and we even won the competition. From then onwards, the journey started and Alhamdo LILLAH, it is going on till date.
SW: Maam, we have seen many people who are not born poets but still they try to write by copying others but they cannot be successful. Do you think poetry can be learnt? FB: Poetry is a natural art and it is like one single equation you are a poet or you are not a poet at all. It can never be learnt. This is why those who copies others do not survive long.
SW: People say that you are a poetess who knows the real ingredients of writing a perfect romance. What is your take on it? FB: Being honest, whatever I write, it always has that emotional agony & warmth which the reader gets to feel. Love can never be perfect in its totality. Therefore, romantic poetry always possess the feel of incompleteness in it. This is why it is almost impossible to define the term “perfect romance”.
SW: Who are your favorite poets? FB”: Ghalib sb, Faiz sb, Muneer Niazi sb, Jaun Elias sb. They all are my favorites.
SW: What do you enjoy writing most. Ghazals or Nazm (poems)? FB: Alhamdo LILLAH poetry comes like a dream to me and it is safe to say that by the Grace of Almight I can easily write any sort of poetry (ghazals & nazm both).
SW: Maam, we have heard that you have presented Pakistan in the global arena as well. FB: Yes, you are right. Alhamdo LILLAH, I was invited in UAE (Dubai), Qatar and England for various mushira and I presented Pakistan. Artists are the symbol of peace, love any unity and this was my message wherever I went.
SW: Maam do you think a critic is mandatory for making one’s writing better? FB: Critics work as a mentor and I have always been saying that critic should do criticism of one’s art work, rather giving it a look of post mortem.
SW: Who do you think as your literary teacher? FB: I have literally not learnt poetry from anyone and whatevetr I write, it’s a blessing of ALLAH and MASOOMEEN (asws). However I consider Ghalib sb as my teacher as his poetry has always been inspirational for me.
SW: Tell us something about your first book. FB: My first poetry book was Palken Bheegi Bheegi Si and it was published way back in 1992.
SW: Maam, Our followers and your fans want to know more about your personal life. Will you please share us something about the same. FB: My husband Syed Tanveer Abbas Naqvi was also a great writer and we suffered with his unfortunate demise in 2009. Masha ALLAH, I am a mother of two and no doubt both of them are the biggest asset of my life. I cherish the relationship of mother the most.
SW: Your proudest moment of life? FB: When we went to perform Ziyaraat, especially when we performed Zeyrat of IMAM HUSSAIN (asws). I can’t describe the feelings in words. It is like I am still there and will always remain there.
SW: Maam you have been honored on global level from foreign countries twice, however unfortunately Govt of Pakistan has never recognized your efforts in the literature field. Your fans want to know, how you feel about it. FB: (With an innocent smile on her face) Its such a simple phenomenon. Look, we are living in a country where poets are applauded on the basis of their personal network & relationships inspite of their own capabilities, skill & work in Mushairas. So a place where someone is praised for his/ her relationships instead of work, how can we even think about getting honors purely on our work?
SW: Maam, Shobywood is first of its kind Pakistani blog, which is dedicated to reviews on films & literature. It also gives an insight about sports events & current affairs. Any kind words for this international blog. FB: Although I am not much fond of these tech gadgets that people of our age like to explore but still I got to read your blog. And honestly it is one of those online spaces that one gets astonished after visiting. Your critic Shoby not only highlights the positive & best aspects of a movie, he also pin points those shortcomings that makes the film look mediocre. He also advices sometime to the film makers for the betterment. I would personally like to suggest that you can make your blog even more attractive by sharing life struggle & success stories of our legends, their experiences and interviews with celebrities. So that our young generation gets to know how hard work has made them be successful.
SW: At the end, we would ask if you would like to give any message exclusively for your fans and Shobywood’s followers. FB: From this platform, I would like to thanks Shobywood and my fans for their everlasting love & support. Just one message, spread happiness so that you may also get the same in return. Thank you.
