ALIF (Umera Ahmed)-Novel Analysis by Shahbaz Ali Naqvi (Shoby)

I am a 90's kid and many of us have grown reading Umera Ahmed. The name that is synonymous to some unforgettable stories with almost immortal characters. Well right from Haasil to La'Haasil, from Main Ne Khawabon Ka Sheher to Sehar Ik Ista'ara Hai, from Meri Zaat Zara e benishaan to Shehr e Zaat, from Mann o Salwa to Iman Umeed or Muhabbat and from the exceptional saga PEER e KAAMIL (saww) to relatively new epic Aks. I shall continue with mentioning the names of those epic write ups that we have been cherishing for so long and the list may not be concluded. So, let us summarize our discussion and focus on our primary object today. The latest offering by one of the legendary writers of our time Ms. Umera Ahmed, which she has tentatively titled as ALIF.

Do you know the meaning of ALIF. No, not that meaning which everyone "else" is telling us. I am talking about the Real meaning of Alphabet ALIF. ALIF, the very first ALPHABET of ISM of the CREATOR of everything (ALLAH). Get ready for the goosebumps now. While teaching the meaning of Bismillah al-Rahman alRahim, IMAM JAFER SADIQ (asws) said,  “ALIF is the Blessings [ala] of ALLAH over His Creatures from the bounty of our Guardianship [wilayah]. (Reference Book: KITAB AL TOWHID by Sheikh Sadooq, Page Number 237). So, all the BLESSINGS of our CREATOR ALLAH PAK are hidden in the meanings of LETTER "ALIF". Let me pause this discussion here and will resume the same somewhere in the middle of the review to give more insight about its relation with the novel ALIF.

ALIF (novel) is a combination of a plethora of  larger than life stories (and we know that it is the signature of Umera Ahmed to present larger than life tales). At one side, we get to see a maverick film director's journey from spiritual to materialistic and then reverting to his very own shade of nature (being spiritual). On the other side, we confront with a very common (read basic) story of an actress who went on to gain the triumph. Then there is a journey of a veteran actress who chooses ONE from the lot. And then there are two calligraphers both have a different dimension of love (ISHQ) to explore.

Now let us analyze the pertinent protagonists of the story. Qalb e Momin, being the talk of the town as the hit machine of Lollywood has been portrayed, just the way he was supposed to. Starting off with the grey side of his character, someone who knows the worth of being the only film maker with all commercially successful films under his banner, the hallmarks of his character from being rude & straight forward to arrogant and then his coming of age to sensible and noble person, he is undoubtedly, another gem of a character, penned by Umera. I found visible impact of different shades from Umera's earlier characters including Salaar Sikander (PEER e KAAMIL saww) and Sherdil (Aks) in this character. Character of Momina is crystal clearly written by the author. Various aspects of the character depict her struggle and continuous battle with the life. From an unsure struggling actress (Not A Wanna-Be but struck by luck), to an Academy award winner, her personality has been shaped by all the downs of the life with not even a hint of success negatively impacting her persona.

If we talk about the characters of Abdul ALI, Sultan, TAHA Abdul ALI and Husn e Jahan, I must say that the author has penned one of the most solid author backed characters this time. ABDUL ALI, heir of one of most cherished genre of calligraphy. His ancestors were considered the legends of this art form and they have painted/ calligraphed nothing but ALLAH (HIS ASMAA and Ayaat e Mubarka). His only dream was, to see his only Son (Taha) a true successor of his family heritage. Then comes Sultan, a make-up artist and a die-hard lover of Husn e Jahan, who can do anything for the love. Talking about Husn e Jahan, once a diva, a cherished actress who decides to marry a calligrapher cum dancer just in the love of SUPREME. Let us not forget probably the most pertinent character of Qalb e Momin in his childhood. A 10 years old kid, who has the strongest bonding with ALLAH. He loves to interact with ALLAH through postal medium. Innocence brought with the rock solid belief on ALLAH has been his biggest trait.

To be honest, it was quite difficult to give all these sub-plots an equal opportunity to blossom but hats off to Umera for handling the subject matter so delicately that you never miss a beat. You have no time to get distracted and bored as the proceedings operate so smooth, they do not allow you to derange and divert your thought process. At the heart of the mega plot, all these sub-plots are built, arranged and managed so evenly that you always look for what’s coming next. (Not after the ecstasy but in the plot :-) )

I am in no doubt to say that Umera has written ALIF in her very own signature style. The same sort of writing technique, for which she is famous. The treatment of Qalb e Momin childhood's part resembles to that of Chirya's in Aks. I love the way she expressed his relationship with ALLAH and steps to further strengthen this relationship (making a handmade postal box and writing letters). Somewhere I feel, I would have loved it even more, if he was shown writing a letter after his character’s make-over turn around, may be just to show his innocence shade of his character.

Dialogues in ALIF are pitch perfect. "Jo Tum Chor Ke Ai Ho woh dunya hai... Jo main chor betha hoon WOH ALLAH Hai..." Goose Bumps… hai na??? You always get to read a stunner in every paragraph. It was an amazing feel to see the magic sprinkling out from the same real Umera Ahmed's monologues. “Is ke kaantey hata diye hain main ne ta ke aap ki ungliyan zakhmi na hon... reminded me of “Aap ke paon bohat haseen hain... Inhain zameen per na utaiye ga, meley ho jaey ge” from Kamal Amrohi’s 20th Film-Fare winner Pakeezah. Similarly “aaj tumhain gaey 423 din ho gaey hain” made me recall another classic, theek kehtey ho tum dev… sirf dus saal from Sir Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic Devdas.

Now let me try to bridge the gap and create a sync between the real meaning of ALIF and the proceedings of this novel. As I mentioned earlier, according to the saying of IMAM JAFER SADIQ (asws), ALIF (ALPHABET) represents the BLESSINGS of ALLAH, which HE bestowed upon us (and every creation) due to the Wilayat of MUHAMMAD (saww) o AAL e MUHAMMAD (saww). In novel ALIF, we get to see several personalities, where everyone is dealing with this BLESSING in a diverse manner. At one hand Qalb e Momin becomes proud & arrogant, whereas on the other hand, Momina absorbs all the fame with utmost grace. Same goes for Husn e Jahan and Taha but ABDUL ALI is a bit affected negatively, which he later on realizes and tries to rectify.

Coming towards the scene creation, once again, she has proved her mettle here. There are many scenes in the novel, where you are spell bound by her masterstrokes. My picks are Death Scene of Jahangir, Scene where Momin discusses film on spirituality with screenplay writers and the scene, where Sultan comes to meet Husn e Jahan in Turkey.

Sultan: Main Pakistan se Turkey aa gaya aap ke liye… Aap ne chaey ka aik cup tak na piaya…

Husn e Jahan: Chaey ke liye aik cup doodh hai… Us se chaey baney gi to Momin raat ko kiya piye ga … Doodh piye bagher neend nahi ati usey…

Above all my most favorite scene of the novel is the dance sequence featuring Taha performing Rumi Dance on the stage and Husn e Jahan dancing at the back of the stage.

“This, my friends, is called the Sama—the dance of the whirling dervishes. From this day on, dervishes of every age will dance the Sama. One hand pointed up to the sky, the other hand pointing down to earth, every speck of love we receive from God, we pledge to distribute to the people.” (40 Rules of Love by Elif Shafaq). I felt like Taha and Husn e Jahan were doing the very same thing. Spreading love all around, the love they have gained from the CREATOR.

We all know that Umera Ahmed is best at imagery. From scenic locales of a Turkish sub-urb village to glitz & glamour filled life of a city with celebrities involved in the narration, from calm & content place of ABDUL ALI and Master Ibrahim to the house of struggling Momina in a mediocre place, everything is penned so authentically. Thank you Umera for not concluding the whole story in a mediocre way. If you would have made Qalb e Momin and Momina a happily everafter living lovey dovey couple at the curtains, it would have dented the story especially the primary theme of the novel. Leave everything for ONE and then you will be BLESSED with a need for Nothingness, something much above than Self Actualization (in the Maslow’s Needs Hierarchy).

Final words, let me confess that before ALIF, last novel of Umera Ahmed (Aab e Hayat) was not up to the mark, considering two primary things. First thing first, it was projected as a sequel to cult classic PEER e KAMIL (saw) but it miserably failed to have the same impact as of its predecessor. Secondly, considering Umera is at the prime of her writing carrier and Aks was a mind boggling read, Aab e Hayat fell short of my expectations in many ways (Read my review on Aab e Hayat at my blog Shobywood for reasons and details). But looks like in ALIF, Umera Ahmed has made a gigantic come back with all the success already written on the wall. Obviously, till date, PEER e KAAMIL (saw), Mann o Salwa, Aks and Haasil are my favorites and ALIF has not beaten their fan following as far as my views are concerned but yes, ALIF is a winner in every domain, if it is not compared with Umera’s earlier classics. As a matter of fact, I have not watched a single episode of dramatized version of ALIF and I really don’t want to watch it. Don’t want to spoil my mood if drama version couldn’t do justice with its written piece. Yes, I am not at all a fan of Pakistan’s current drama/ film industry. Leaving you guys with this from my one of the favorite seasons Penny Dreadful (Season One).

I have never seen, so much nothing…

Margaret Atwood said, "You’re never going to kill storytelling, because it’s built in the human plan. We come with it.” We are living a life full of stories. I feel there are only two type of people in the world. First one, the rare category, the storytellers and the second one, the public, who are the story listeners. No matter what medium you use, if you are an artist, you are a storyteller for sure. As a matter of fact, one can never claim to be an artist, unless he has the tendency to tell stories through his respective art form.

Its always pleasing to see new writers coming up with their books. Thanks GOD, there are still few people, who dare to get their written stuff published for public in this world full of book drought environment. One name in this blessed list is our Social Media star writer Ms. Saba Khan. Saba has been sharing her write ups in both forms (poetry and prose) through social media and her write ups are getting quite a handsome volume of acceptance and fame in the public. Now she has come up with not a single but TWO books simultaneously. (Good Job done girl... Take a bow)...

Well, let me keep my comments aside for a limited time for her poetry book (Muhabbat Hai Saba Jaisi) and let us focus on her first ever prose collection the book tentatively titled as "Bandhan", a collection of 16 different micro fiction stories. The first thing that catches your attention in the book are those beautiful lines from veteran novelist Mr. Mahmood Zafar Iqbal Hashmi. You also get a surprise bonus when you get to read our dearest poetess Naheed Akhtar Baloch's preface.

Now lets dive deeper into the ocean of Bandhan. First thing first, Bandhan is a winner, in the sense that it clearly states the primary objective of the writer in a very simple manner. You dont need any Einstein's brain to grasp the proceedings. Looks like author was very much clear about the message she has to give to the audience, without being preachy. There is nothing right or wrong here, suggested by the author. She has just told you the real life fiction fabricated stories in simplest of words and left it to the reader to be a judge and decide which section of society has gone wrong and how.

All the characters in different stories are fortunately (or unfortunately) an integral part of our society, be it a child beggar or a woman suffering from domestic violence to a prostitute etc. Writer has depicted her characters in such a way that you feel sympathy for them. Although the overall feel of the book is gray and a bit sad but you are bound to admire the bravery of the writer. She has shown her wordy prowess to write some very difficult characters in a very sensitive attire. I loved the way, she demonstrated the character of Jaan e Ada. It reminded me of those classical courtesans like Umrao Jaan e Ada, Chandrmukhi and Sahib Jaan. See, how negligently writer has narrated the small sensitive moments of the story.

Coming towards the dialogue writing, I feel, Saba has the power to write in the same lingo in which her character is being portrayed. From the redefined and sophisticated courtesan to someone behind bars, from a happy go lucky chap (Shaheer) to the insane hurt violent woman, the writer has a complete recipe for every character. She is a poetess and she has told her quite randomly merely through the use of those beautiful defining poetic one-liners in various stories. To be honest, I love this one monologue to the core. To me, the whole book Bandhan is at one side and this one sentence has such a power to overshadow every other written thing in the book.

Another positive sign in the book is writer's ability to conclude the proceedings. She knows how to start and sum up the things. Reader is never allowed to get distracted or bored as the fictions are quickly moving towards their finishing lines. A strong sense of observation is depicted by the writer in almost all of the stories. She has written some beautiful scenes in the book, which states that she can write a screenplay for sure with a bit more effort.

Now let me focus on a few things that should be taken care by the writer in the future. The very first thing that I observed (and read sort of a bit confused) is that considering the abilities writer have, she has just touched the upper epidermis of our plagued society. As far as this prose is concerned, looks like she was short of subjects. Although she used different characters from multiple domains but you always feel like reading one same story with same sort of plot and same sort of endings. 

Another shortcoming that I feel is, writer's one sided exhibition. Only one complaint from the writer is written all over the book. She has shown the woman as an object of violence. The female characters in almost all the stories are helpless, abused, distressed and exploited. I am not arguing that she has shown a wrong image of society. Obviously our society is plagued, in fact has been rotten with this syndrome of male domination and women here are mostly suppressed. But I feel, women now are showing their power and brighter image. Being a writer, it is our responsibility to be a true interpreter of the society without being biased. Having said this, I believe, Bandhan was her first experience and this is just a beginning of a long going journey. She will surely explore new domains and more diverse topics in her upcoming projects.

Concluding my review on this note that writer has been successful in establishing her very own place in the literature field with just her first book. I am sure she will continue the efforts and will definitely come up with much more interesting concepts with more beautiful executions. Do purchase hte book, read it and give your honest opinion to the writer. It will work as an oxygen for her literary life.

Victor Hugo said, "There is a sacred horror about everything grand. It is easy to admire mediocrity and hills; but whatever is too lofty, a genius as well as a mountain, an assembly as well as a masterpiece, seen too near, is appalling." So what does it take to make a masterpiece, something that comes out of your inner side, being an artist, while going through a phase of Writer's Block (read Artist's Block). Aymal Raza has this time explored a different genre, which deals with complexities of human nature as well as relationship of two mutually exclusive human beings.

It is so true that every artist, regardless of the genre of art, has to tell a story and every artistic piece is a complete story of something. Mujasma'saaz is a definite cry of the writer over the gray shades of an artist. Marvin Gaye said, “Great artists suffer for the people.” I believe, one cannot be a true artist unless he has a specific pattern of feelings & emotions for other creations and the responsibility increases even more when the other creation is of GOD's. How can one dare to claim to be an artist, if he does not have the compassion for others, no matter, how great your (so called) artist emerges out to be in front of the world.

Analyzing the two pertinent character of Aymal Raza's Mujasma'saaz, we get to see two altogether different set of personalities. "Mujasma'saaz" is shown as a shrewd Carver, who can go to any extreme just for the sake of creating a perfect creation. On the other hand, "Rustam", the carver's servant, is depicted as a symbol of devotion. 

Rustam, who once used to enjoy the premium status of being the most trusted person of Mujasma'saaz falls right from the sky to the bottom of all the Earths, when a beautiful scripture gets broken down, courtesy his little extra love. This leads to leash an inhuman face of the mujasma'saaz which ultimately ends at the fatal fate of Rustam. You can feel a very unusual feeling of love and emotional attachment of Rustam with Mujasma'saaz but as Debolina Bhawal said, “Never fall for anyone. It's only sadness that is gifted by them to you in your rest of the life. Kills the loving person inside you.” This happens in this very case. 

Talking about the narrative part of the fiction, it is a short but comprehensive take. Considering the fact that it was written for monthly Suspense digest, the fiction had overall feel of a mystery but it has the signature of Aymal Raza. Somewhere in the proceedings, you feel this time Aymal was a bit short of producing the mind blowing one-liners in a big number, which she is undoubtedly capable of writing. I feel, the writer is immensely inspired by Auguste Rodin's sculpture "The Thinker" as she has once again used it in this writing. (I guess she has used the same somewhere earlier too. Apologies, if I am wrong). The name of both sculptures "Khamoshi" and "Pashemaani" were awesome and went good with overall theme of the story, which to me was more Noir than sad. However, keeping the story intact with exactly two protagonists with just a glimpse of a side character (to make a narrative more strong) was the winning factor of the story.

زندگی۔۔۔ ہمیشہ سے یہی کہتا آیا ہوں کہ ہم سب اپنے اپنے حصے کی جنت میں اپنا اپنا وقت گزار رہے ہیں۔۔۔ یہ الگ بات کہ دوسروں کی جنتیں دیکھ کر ہم اپنی جنت میں موجود تمام نعمتوں کو بھول جاتے ہیں۔۔۔ جلد باز اور ناشکرے تو ہم ہیں ہی، بس اسی چیز کو endorse کرتے ہوئے ہم دوسروں کی جنتوں کا موازنہ اپنی جنت سے کرتے ہوئے خود اپنی جنت کو دوزخ بنا دیتے ہیں۔۔۔ اور وہیں سے ابتداء ہوتی ہے نقصان کی۔۔۔ نقصان جو میرا، آپ کا اور ہم سے تعلق رکھنے والے ہر فرد کا بلکہ مجموعی طور پہ اس معاشرے کا ہوتا ہے۔۔۔

افسوس یہ ہے کہ اس سارے المیہ میں کوئی بھی ایسا نہیں ہوتا جو ہمیں culprit یا victim ہوتے ہوئے بھی سننا پسند نہیں کرتا۔۔۔ زیادہ بڑا المیہ یہ ہے کہ اس معاشرے میں لوگ پڑھنے سے زیادہ لکھنے اور سننے سے زیادہ بولنے کو ترجیح دیتے ہیں۔۔۔ نتیجہ وہی، نقصان اور نقصان کے نتیجے میں تباہی۔۔۔

کیا ہی اچھا ہو نا کہ ہمیں کوئی ایسا مل جائے جو ہمیں جانتا نہ ہو۔۔۔ جسے ہمارے کسی action سے کوئی فرق نہ پڑتا ہو۔۔۔ جو صرف neutral ہو کر، صرف ایک انسان ہونے کے ناطے ہمیں سنے۔۔۔ اچھا برا، نیک بد کچھ بھی pre assume کئے بغیر صرف اس لئے سنے کیونکہ ہمیں سننے والا کوئی نہیں۔۔۔ اور یہی سننا اور سننے کے بعد بالکل غیر جانبدار رہتے ہوئے ہمیں وہ suggest کرنا جو ہمارے لئے ضروری ہو، ہمارے لئے مثبت ہو اور ہمارے لئے مسائل، مشکلات اور ہریشانیوں سے نکلنے کا آسان راستہ ہو۔۔۔

افراتفری اور خود پسندی کے اس دور میں اب بھی کچھ لوگ ہیں جو اپنا نہیں سوچتے اور ایسے لوگ یقیناً حبس زدہ ماحول میں تازہ ہوا کا جھونکے ہوتا ہیں۔۔۔ چند دن پہلے ہیلرز کی ایک ٹیم ممبر نے مجھے اپنے ایک پراجیکٹ کے حوالے سے بتایا جو الحمد للہ اب مکمل ہو چکا ہے اور اب فنکشنل ہے۔۔۔

ہلیرز زندگی کی مختلف domains سے professionals کی ٹیم کے ساتھ صرف آپ کو سنیں گے۔۔۔ جہاں تک ممکن ہوا آپ کے مسائل کے حل آپ کو guide کئے جائیں گے۔۔۔ یہاں آپ کو judge نہیں کیا جائے گا بلکہ صرف listen suggest and guide کریں گے۔۔۔ مجھے یہ پراجیکٹ بہت پسند آیا ہے۔۔۔ اور اس کی وجہ یہ ہے کہ اس کے پیچھے زاتی اغراض و مقاصد نہیں ہیں۔۔۔ ان کا واحد مقصد آپ کی خدمت کرنا ہے۔۔۔ کسی بھی طرح آپ کے دل اور دماغ کے لئے آسانیاں پیدا کرنا ہے۔۔۔ ان کے ہراجیکٹ کی تفصیلات آپ کو ان کے آفیشل پیج سے مل جائیں گی۔۔۔

عشوا: میرا نام عشوارانا اور آئی ڈی نیم گل رعنا ہے.( یہاں یہ بات بھی بتا ہی دوں میں نے دو ناموں کا کبھی سوچا نہیں تھا مگر شروع سے آئی ڈی کا یہ نام تھا اور لوگ لکھے ہوئے سے پہچاننے لگے تو اب چینج کر بھی نہیں سکتی ...اب سبھی مجھے گل رعنا کے نام سے زیادہ جانتے ہیں.) ماسٹرز ان باٹنی ، پروفیشنلی ٹیچر ہوں. عمر تئیس سال ہے اور کوٹ ادو (سنانواں)  سے تعلق رکھتی ہوں.


شوبی وڈ: لکھنے کا آغاز کیسے اور کس سے متاثر ہو کر کیا؟.
عشوا: شروع سے کبھی سوچا نہیں تھا کہ رائٹر بننا ہے ..لیکن اسکول میں چھوٹی موٹی خبریں اور نظمیں لکھتی رہتی تھی.پھر ایک لمبے عرصے بعد  2016 میں  شہدائے پشاور پہ ایک نثری نظم لکھی اور اس کے بعد سے لکھنا شروع کیا. ہمارے گھر میں شروع سے بچوں کا اسلام،  روزنامہ اسلام اور خواتین کا اسلام آتے تھے.انہیں پڑھ پڑھ کے لکھنے کا شوق اور رائٹرز کے بارے میں تجسس پیدا ہوا .

عشوا: میرے لیے لکھنا دل و دماغ میں امڈنے والے خیالات و احساسات کو زبان دینے کا نام ہے.میں نے کبھی نہیں سوچا کہ کہانی کیسے لکھنی ہے،  یا افسانہ،  کالم  .....بس جو مجھے محسوس ہوتا ہے.وہی میرے لیے "لکھنے " کے معنی میں آتا ہے.

شوبی وڈ: کیا آپ صرف نثر ہی لکھتی ہیں یا شاعری بھی کرتی ہیں؟
عشوا: ناکام شاعرہ کہہ سکتے ہیں .قافیہ ردیف اوزان سے کہیں دور اپنی دھن میں کہی نظم شاعری میں شامل ہوتی ہے تو پھر میں شاعرہ ہوں...🙂 🙂  نہیں تو صرف نثر نگار .

شوبی وڈ: آپ کی سوشل میڈیا پوسٹس سے یوں لگتا ہے جیسے آپ ایک ینس مکھ اور شرارتی سی لڑکی ہیں۔۔۔ کیا آپ اپنی حقیقی زندگی میں ایسی ہی ہیں؟
عشوا: بالکل ...101% ....میری پوسٹس میری تخلیق سے زیادہ میری سرگرمیوں کی آپ بیتی ہے...جن کی تعداد کم ہونے کی بجائے بڑھتی جا رہی ہے.

شوبی وڈ: سوشل میڈیا پہ اتنی ہنس مکھ اور قلم میں سنجیدگی اور جذبات کا طوفان۔۔۔ یہ کیسے بیلنس کرتی ہیں؟
عشوا: دیکھیے زندگی آپ کو جتنے رنگ حقیقت میں دیتی ہے اس سے کہیں زیادہ آپ کو خود بھرنے پڑتے ہیں.
کسی بھی فریم کا فرنٹ جتنا پیارا ہوتا ہے ...دوسری طرف اتنا ہی سادہ.  .! آپ حقیقت سے انکار نہیں کر سکتے. آپ اپنے احساسات اور زندگی کی سنجیدگی سے منہ نہیں موڑ سکتے...وہ ایک رخ ہے.لیکن ان سب کے باوجود آپ کو جینا ہے تو آپ کھل کے جئیں   ! ہنسیں کھلکھلائیں اور زندگی کو بتائیں ہم ابھی زندہ ہیں.🙂

شوبی وڈ: آپ شعبہ تدریس سے تعلق رکھتی ہیں اور استاد ہونے کے ناطے یقیناً کافی مصروف ہوتی ہوں گی۔۔۔ اپنی مصروفیات میں سے سوشل میڈیا اور لکھنے کے لئے وقت کیسے نکالتی ہیں؟
عشوا: ٹیچنگ بذات خود ایک ایسا پروسس ہے جہاں آپ کو نہ صرف سیکھنا ہوتا ہے بلکہ بیک وقت سکھانا بھی ہوتا ہے. مجھے لگتا ہے ٹیچنگ جیسے پروفیشن میں تخلیق کا عمل زیادہ ہے. ہر روز اک نیا تجربہ،   اک نئی کہانی ہے اور اگر آپ یہ سب سوچنے کا وقت نکال سکتے ہیں تو لکھنے کا بھی...میں نے ایسے بھی کئی تحریریں لکھی ہے کہ میں اسکول کے گیٹ پہ پہنچتی ہوں اور میری تحریر کی آخری لائن ہوتی ہے. وقت نکالنے میں موبائل نے میرا بڑا ساتھ دیا ہے 🙂 

شوبی وڈ: ہمارے آن لائن ڈیجیٹل میگزین "قرطاس" پہ شائع ہونے والے ناول "علیزے سکندر اور محبت" کے حوالے سے کچھ بتائیں کہ اس کا خیال کیسے آیا؟
عشوا: یہ ایک لمبی کہانی ہے. ناول کے اختتام پہ میں ضرور شیئر کروں گی..فی الوقت اتنا سمجھیے کہ زندگی میں جب بھی پہلا ناول لکھنے کا سوچا وہ یہی کردار،  یہی کہانی تھی ...یہ مجھے لکھنی ہی تھی.

شوبی وڈ: یہ آپ کا پہلا سلسلے وار ناول ہے۔۔۔ یہ طویل سفر کیسا رہا اور اب جبکہ یہ سفر ختم ہونے والا ہے تو کیا محسوس ہر رہی ہیں؟؟؟
عشوا: یہ ناول لکھتے وقت ہی طے کر لیا تھا کہ یہ کوئی مورل سٹوری نہیں ہے .یہ صرف احساسات اور محبت کی کہانی ہے.ٹوٹنے اور جڑنے کے اس عمل میں خود کو بکھرنے سے بچاتے ہوئے سمیٹنے کی کوشش کی کہانی .....! اس کا کوئی کریکٹر آپ کے لیے مشعل راہ تو نہیں لیکن آپ سے جڑا ضرور ہے..کہیں نہ کہیں کسی نہ کسی طرح... !
میرے لیے بہت مشکل ہو رہا ہے کہ میں اس کا اختتام کیسے کروں ...لیکن ہر چیز اینڈ نہیں ہوتی..ہو سکتا ہے آج آپ اسے الفاظ کی صورت پڑھتے ہیں ...کل کو آپ کے احساسات میں شامل ہو جائے  ...اور یہی اک نیا آغاز ہو.

شوبی وڈ: اس پورے ناول میں آپ کا سب سے پسندیدہ منظر یا کردار کون سا ہے؟ کس سین یا کردار نے آپ کو لکھتے ہوئے جذباتی کیا؟
عشوا: لاسٹ ایپی سوڈ ....! جو ابھی مکمل ہونی ہے... رائٹرز صرف واہ واہ یا تعریفوں کی بارش کے لیے اچھا نہیں لکھتے.. وہ رائٹر ہوتے ہی نہیں....! لیکن اتنا تو ہے کہ جو چیز آپ کے دل پہ اثر کر رہی ہے وہ پہلے ہمارے دل پہ لگتی ہے...ہم ایک ایسے پروسس سے گزرتے ہیں جہاں ہر دکھ خوشی محسوس کر کے ہمیں آپ تک پہنچانی ہوتی ہے.

شوبی وڈ: آپ کا شوبی وڈ کے ساتھ کام کرنے کا تجربہ کیسا رہا؟؟؟ کیا مستقبل میں بھی ہمارے ساتھ کام کرنا پسند کریں گی؟؟؟
عشوا: یہ ناول لکھنے سے بھی پہلے میرے لیے یہ بہت مشکل تھا کہ میں اسے مکمل کیسے کروں گی...میری مصروفیات  میں اتنی لمبی کہانی ایک ساتھ مکمل کرنے کا زرا وقت نہیں تھا.میرے لیے شوبی وڈ کے لیے قسط وار ناول لکھنا  واقعی میں ایک کمفرٹ زون ثابت ہوا ہے..جہاں آپ سب کو اتنی شکایت تھی کہ میں جلدی قسط نہیں دیتی،  وہیں یہ میرے لی سب سے بڑی راحت تھی کہ مجھ سے جلدی قسط مانگی بھی نہیں جاتی 🙂  ہر اس کمٹنٹ کو جو شوبی  وڈ کی جانب سے ہوئی پورا کرنے کے لیے بہت شکریہ....!
مجھے آن لائن لکھنا اور میگزینز میں لکھنا دونوں ہی برابر لگتے ہیں کہ اگر آپ کمرشل رائٹر نہیں ہیں تو آپ کا کام اپنی کہانیاں پیش کرنا ہے اور وہ آپ جہاں بھی پیش کریں ...لوگوں تک پہنچنی چاہیے بس یہی اہم ہے...انشاءاللہ ضرور لکھوں گی.

شوبی وڈ: آپ کے پسندیدہ نثرنگار/ شاعر کون سے ہیں اور پسندیدگی کی وجہ کیا ہے؟؟؟
عشوا: سچ بتاؤں تو کسی بھی رائٹر کی وہ کہانی ،جملہ یاشاعر کا شعر جو مجھے اپنے سحر میں جکڑ لے...میرے لیے پسندیدگی کی وجہ بن جاتا ہے....ویسے میرا مطالعہ انتہائی کم ہے ...مگر جتنا پڑھا ہے مجھے اشفاق احمد کی بے ساختگی اورمستنصر حسین صاحب کی جملوں میں چھپی گہرائی بہت پسند آئی.

شوبی وڈ: کیا آپ اس دور میں لکھے جانے والے اردو ادب سے مطمئن ہیں یا نہیں۔۔۔ وجہ بھی بتائیے۔۔۔
عشوا: متفق ہوں بھی،  اور نہیں بھی..!
معیار کا ایک لیول ہوتا ہے،  جو اس لیول کے مطابق کام کر رہا ہے وہ اچھا کام کر رہا ہے...!
اگر سوشل میڈیا کی بات کی جائے تو میں ہر کسی کے لکھنے سے مطمئن نہیں.رائٹرز بنائے نہیں جاتے،  یہ ایک صلاحیت ہے جو نکھر تو سکتی ہے مگر پیدا نہیں کی جا سکتی..ہر پوسٹ لکھنے والا رائٹر نہیں ہے...ہر تبصرہ کرنے والا ریڈر ہو سکتا ہے ...قاری نہیں ...قاری اور لکھاری کی میرے خیال سے ایک بہتر تعریف وجود میں آنی چاہیے جس سے خود کا  موازنہ کیا جا سکے کہ آیا ہم اس پہ پورا اترتے بھی ہیں کہ نہیں.

شوبی وڈ: کیا آپ کے خیال میں آج اچھے لکھاری کی کمی ہے یا اچھے قاری کی؟
عشوا: ایک اچھے رائٹر کی پہچان اچھے ریڈر کی وجہ سے ہوتی ہے...ووٹنگ کا یہ فیصلہ سیدھا ریڈر کے کورٹ میں جاتا ہے لیکن اس کے لیے پڑھنے والے کو بہترین قاری ہونا چاہیے.

شوبی وڈ: آپ کی اب تک کتنی کہانیاں شائع ہو چکی ہیں اور ان میں سے آپ کی پسندیدہ کہانی کون سی ہیں؟
عشوا: میں اپنی وال پہ بہت زیادہ لکھ چکی ہوں ..شاید حد سے زیادہ ...آن لائن فورمز،  ویب سائٹ اور میگزینز میں کل ملا کے تقریبا ڈیڑھ سو سے اوپر ہی ہو چکی ہوں گیں.
مجھے محبت پہ لکھنا بہت پسند ہے .... مجھے اپنے لکھے مائکروف زیادہ اچھے لگتے ہیں.

شوبی وڈ: آپ کا ڈریم پراجیکٹ کیا ہے؟
عشوا: لکھنے کے حوالے سے میں ایک بہترین ڈرامہ ، فلم اور ناول لکھنا چاہتی ہوں جو انشاءاللہ  ضرور لکھنا ہے.

شوبی وڈ: علیزے سکندر اور محبت کے بعد کیا لکھنے کا ارادہ ہے؟
عشوا: فورا بعد ایک ناولٹ لکھنا ہے،  جو چھ سات اقساط پہ مشتمل ہو سکتا ہے...علیزے، سکندر سے بھی پہلے میں نے ایک ناول "  اک خواب پرایا " لکھنا شروع کیا تھا ....وہی اگلا ناول ہو سکتا ہے.

شوبی وڈ: کس قسم کی کہانیاں لکھنے اور پڑھنے کا شوق ہے؟
عشوا: فکشن سٹوریز ..!مجھے نہیں علم کہ لوگ فکشن کو کتنا مانتے ہیں اور ادب میں کس نظر سے دیکھتے ہیں مگر مجھے مائکروف لکھنا،  پڑھنا پسند ہیں.

شوبی وڈ: جو لوگ لکھنا چاہتے ہیں انہیں کیا پیغام دیں گی؟
عشوا: سیکھنے کے لیے صرف پیشن اور توجہ کی ضرورت ہوتی ہے.. فوکس رکھیے کہ آپ کیا کرنا اور لکھنا چاہتے ہیں ؟ کس صنف پہ عبور حاصل ہے یا پسند ہے اور کس چیز کا حصہ بننا ہے.جتنا مقصد واضح ہو گا اتنی ہی آسانی ہو گی.

شوبی وڈ: آپ کے نزدیک شوبی وڈ کیسا پلیٹ فارم ہے۔۔۔ ہمارے پیج ممبرز کے لئے کوئی پیغام؟
عشوا: کوئی بھی کام چاہے وہ جس لیول کا ہو،  وہ اچھا ہے تو اچھا کہلائے گا...چیزوں کی حوصلہ افزائی کرنا اور اچھی چیز کی تعریف کرنا آپ کا حق ہے..ریٹنگز،  فالورز،  ویوز کے چکر سے باہر نکلیے اور اپنی رائے دینا سیکھیں...اچھے کام کا حق ہے کہ اس پہ بات کی جائے. میں نے جب شوبی وڈ پیج پہ پوسٹس دیکھیں تو شہباز بھائی سے پوچھا تھا کہ یہاں اتنے کمنٹس نہیں ہوتے ....!
لیکن ماسٹر  سٹوری  ٹیلر مقابلے کی اناوئسمنٹ سے رزلٹ تک ... یہ تعداد بہت زیادہ تھی.. اس کا مطلب آپ دیکھتے ہیں،  پڑھتے ہیں،  لیکن ایپریشیٹ نہیں کرتے 🙂 !
اس پلیٹ فارم کی یہ بات بہت  اچھی ہے ہر چیز  کو اس کے پورے پروٹوکول کے ساتھ لے کے چلا  جاتا ہے ... اور یہ بہت اچھی بات ہے کہ آپ اپنے مفاد سے ہٹ کے دوسروں کے کام کو عزت دو...! مجھے ایسا لگتا ہے شہباز علی نقوی صاحب کو اس کام کو کسی میگزین یا اس سے بھی بڑے لیول پہ پیش کرنا چاہیے..کیونکہ وہ کر سکتے ہیں.

خواتین کو جو عزت و وقار اسلام نے دیا، اس کی مثال کسی اور مذہب یا معاشرے میں نہیں ملتی... میں نے گزشتہ بلاگ میں بھی یہ بات واضح کی تھی کہ اگر دنیا نے عورت کی عزت کی معراج دیکھنی ہے تو میرے پاک رسول ص کا اپنی لاڈلی صاحبزادی کے لئے احتراماً کھڑے ہو کر استقبال کرنے ہر ہی غور کر لیں...

آج کی عورت آزادی اور حقوق کی جنگ لڑ رہی ہے... جبکہ اسلام نے چودہ صدیاں قبل عورت کو احترام کے ساتھ جتنی آزادی دی، آج کا نام نہاد لبرل طبقہ سوچ بھی نہیں سکتا... دین شناسی کی بات ہو یا دنیاداری میں معاملہ فہمی کی، سیدہ فاطمہ زہرا (س)، سیدہ خدیجتہ الکبریٰ (س)، سیدہ زینب عالیہ (س) تاریخِ اسلام میں ایسی لازوال ہستیاں موجود ہیں جو دین و دنیا کو ایک ساتھ بہترین انداز میں لے کر چلیں...

اب میں آتا ہوں حالیہ یومِ خواتین کے موقع پر ہونے والے عورت مارچ کی... میں اس موضوع پہ بات نہیں کرنا چاہتے تھا کیونکہ یہ میرے نزدیک اتنا اہم نہیں ہے کہ اس پہ بات کر کے وقت ضائع کیا جائے... لیکن ابھی ابھی ایک وڈیو نظر نہیں سے گزری جس میں ایک بزرگ یہ فرماتے ہوئے نظر آئے کہ یہ سب کچھ نکاح کی وجہ سے ہو رہا ہے اور نکاح ختم ہونا چاہیے... استغفار

میں عورت کی آزادی اور مردوں کے شانہ بشانہ ایک ساتھ ملک و قوم کی بہتری اور فلاح کے لئے کام کرنے کو غلط نہیں کہتا... میرا ماننا ہے کہ اس دور میں خواتین کو برابر کے حقوق ملنے چاہیں اور اس سلسلے میں ہماری کئی خواتین بہت پروقار طریقے سے اپنے مسائل اجاگر کئے... مگر جس طرح کے نعرے اور جو لغویات عورت مارچ میں موجود کئی نام نہاد لبرلز نے اٹھائے ہوئے تھے وہ عورت کو آزاد نہیں بلکہ اخلاقی بستی کی انتہاء پہ جھونکنے کے مطالبات تھے...

نکاح معاشرے کو متوازن رکھتا ہے... جن ممالک میں خاندانی اقدار اور روایات ختم ہو رہی ہیں ان سے پوچھیں... کوئی اگر مذہب اور اسلامی معاشرے کے بنائے ہوئے قوانین کے خلاف بولنے اور عمل کرنے کو ہی آزادی سمجھتا ہے تو اسے علم ہونا چاہیے یہ آزادی نہیں بلکہ زہنی پسماندگی ہے... شیطان کے ہاتھوں کٹھ پتلی بنے ہوئے یہ لبرل خواتین و حضرات آزادی نہیں مانگ رہے تھے بلکہ صرف اور صرف اللہ پاک کے عذاب کو دعوت دے رہے تھے...

اگر آپ خواتین کے حقوق کی بات کرنا چاہیں تو آپ کے پاس مسائل پہ بات کرنے اور حقوق کی جنگ لڑنے کے لئے موضوعات کی کمی نہیں ہے... خواتین کے لئے مساوی تعلیمی سہولیات، نوکری کے وسائل، ونی اور کارو کاری، غیرت کے نام پہ قتل، خواتین کو وراثت میں جائز حق، گھروں میں کام کرنے والی بچیوں اور خواتین پہ ظلم و تشدد، زیادتی اور جانے کتنے ہی مسائل ہیں جو واقعی حل طلب ہیں اور ان پہ ہر فورم پہ بات کرنا میں وقت کی اہم ترین ضرورت سمجھتا ہوں مگر جن باتوں کی آزادی خواتین مارچ میں موجود لوگ چاہ رہے تھے وہ صرف اخلاقی گراوٹ ہے...

میں ایک مرتبہ پھر یہی کہنا چاہوں گا کہ ہمارے تمام مسائل کی وجہ دینِ محمدی (ص) سے دوری ہے... اگر ہم اپنے مسائل حل کرنے کے لئے سنجیدہ ہیں تو اب بھی وقت ہے اسلام نے رشتہ پکا کر لیں... یقین مانیے آپ کو عزت، احترام، محبت، وقار اور وہ تمام حقوق بناء مانگے بناء کوئی جدوجہد کئے خودبخود مل جائیں گے... اس دین میں عورت کو ماں ہونے کی صورت می  قدموں میں جنت، بیٹی ہونے کی صورت میں باپ کے لئے رحمت اور زوجہ ہونے کی صورت میں شوہر کے نصف ایمان کی وارث قرار دیا ہے... جب تک عورت گھر میں موجود اپنے گھریلو امور انجام دے رہی ہوتی ہے، اپنے بچوں کی پرورش کر رہی ہوتی ہے، شوہر کے مال اور اپنی اور شوہر کی عزت و آبرو کی حفاظت کر رہی ہوتی ہے تو وہ اللہ پاک کی رحمت کے سائے میں رہتی ہے...

میری تمام ماؤں بہنوں اور بیٹیوں سے گزارش ہے کہ اسلام سے اپنا رابطہ مضبوط کریں... اسلامی تاریخ کی عظیم ترین ہستیوں کی حیاتِ طیبہ کا مطالعہ کریں... اور سب سے بڑھ کر یہ کہ حجاب کو فروغ دیں... آپ ہمارا فخر ہیں... اپنا وقار قائم اور بلند رکھیں اور آزادی کے کھوکھکے نعروں سے متاثر ہو کر کسی غیر کی بات پہ دھیان نہ دیں...

آٹھ مارچ کو دنیا بھر میں خواتین کا عالمی دن منایا جاتا ہے... اس دن کو منانے کا مقصد خواتین کی معاشرے میں عزت و وقار بلند کرنا اور لوگوں کے شعور و آگہی میں اضافہ ہے...

اسلام نے خواتین کو بہت عزت و مقام دیا ہے... عورت جب ماں ہے تو اس کے قدموں تلے اولاد کی جنت، بیوی ہے تو شوہر کے نصف ایمان کی وارث اور بیٹی ہے تو اپنے والد کے لئے رحمت... میں اس موقع پر خراجِ عقیدت اور سلام پیش کرنا چاہتا ہوں کائنات میں عالمین میں تمام خواتین کی سردار سیدہ فاطمہ زہرا (س) بنتِ محمد مصطفیٰ رسول اللہ (ص) کو... آپ کی شان آپ کے فضائل یقیناً ہمارے علم و عقل سے بہت بلند ہیں... یہیں سے اندازہ لگا لیجیے کہ آپ کے قدموں میں جن بچوں کی جنت ہے وہ خود جنت کے سردار ہیں... آپ اپنے شوہر کے نصف ایمان کی وارث اور وہ بھی وہ عظیم ہستی جو خود کُل کا کُل ایمان ہیں... آپ اپنے والدِ محترم کے لئے رحمت اور والدِ محترم بھی وہ عظیم ترین ہستی جو خود رحمت اللعالمین ہیں... سبحان اللہ... اس میں کوئی شک نہیں کہ بی بی پاک کی حیاتِ طیبہ میں ہم سب خصوصاً ہماری ماؤں بہنوں بیٹیوں کے لئے بہترین نمانہ عمل موجود ہے...

آج کی خواتین نا صرف گھریلو امور نبٹاتی ہیں بلکہ زندگی کے مختلف شعبہ جات میں بھی مردوں کے شانہ بشانہ کام کرتی ہیں... ملک و قوم کی ترقی کے لئے خواتین کی تعلیم اور عملی طور پہ مختلف شعبوں میں ان کی شمولیت بہت ضروری ہے... پڑھی لکھی عورت پڑھا لکھا معاشرہ بناتی ہے...

میں اس موقع پر اپنی پوری ٹیم کو بھی شاباش دینا چاہتا ہوں... میری ٹیم میں موجود ہر ایک ممبر اپنی زمہ داریوں کو سمجھتا ہے... ہم بناء کسی زاتی غرض و فائدہ کے نئے لکھنے والوں کی حوصلہ افزائی کے لئے ایک معیاری پلیٹ فارم مہیاء کرتے ہیں... مجھے اپنی ٹیم پہ فخر ہے جس طرح یہ تمام ممبرز اپنی زاتی مصروفیات سے وقت نکال کر آپ سب کے لئے کوششیں کرتے ہیں...

آج کے دن صرف یہ پیغام دینا چاہوں گا کہ اپنا وقار بلند رکھیے... آپ کا وقار بلند ہے تو قوم و ملت کا وقار بلند ہے... یاد رکھیے جب تک ہماری خواتین کے سروں پہ حجاب ہے ہمارے سر فخر سے بلند ہیں اور ہم سر اٹھا کر چلتے ہیں...

اللہ پاک آپ سب کو دنیا و آخرت کے ہر میدان میں کامیابی عطا فرمائیں الہی آمین

My Team in PSL 4... Special Blog by Shoby

So the time of the year has arrived, when everyone will be glued to the screens to witness the greatest extravaganza of cricket in Pakistan. Season four of Pakistan Super League (PSL) is going to be kicked off from Feb 14, 2019 and the most exciting thing this season is that this time almost 8 matches will be played in Pakistan. I really wish, one day we can see the complete season being played in Pakistan (Insha ALLAH).

Lets talk about my most favourite team or the team I am going to support in PSL. No points on guessing that I am not at all going to change my team this season as well... From the very first season, no matter what the results are, I have always been supporting whole heartedly only one team...

The team representing one of the coolest capital of the planet The Coolest Islamabad United. Well it really needs no reason to have one of these six competing teams as your favourite. But still let me sjare you my top two reasons why I support IU. One, it belongs to my city. Secondly, bhai is ke owner bhi to apney NAQVIs hi hain na (ha ha ha :-) But one thing that didnt go well with me this season is, Misbah ul Haq is not playing from IU. He has joined Peshawar Zalmi franchise. Therefore, IU will be lead by Muhammad Sami.

As a matter of the fact, which ever team wins, ultimately it is about the victory of cricket and one who will emerge as victorious will be no one else but our beloved Pakistan.

So I am all enthralled and excited and really cant wait to see the hits bringing smashing out of the park maximums and getting the bails & wickets dislodged by some real time pace bowling. Cricket has the tendency to join us together and we should use this event as a channel to be united.

AMKK- My Next Poetry Book...

MBMST was a dream and it went on to be a huge success... It managed to get quite a good volume of fame in the eyes of my readers in public and at the same time, it got some immense praise & appreciation from the biggies of the field... Well known poets of our era including Fakhira Batool Naqvi, Wafa Chishti, Naseem e Sehar, Col. Maqbool Hussain, Zain Shakeel and many others gave me some incredible feedback after reading the book...

To tell you honestly, right after the honeymoon period of MBMST was over (exactly three months of its launch), people started asking me about my next book... I was literally circled with queries like when I am going to pen my next book and I was always like, Sabar kero yaar... Abhi MBMST enjoy kerney do mujhey... But after almost three years, I made myself ready for the second book...

People are now asking, what kept me away from the next book for three long years... My reasons are quite simple... I wanted my readers to get comfortable with my style of writing and having said this, I dont want to give them the same old story in the same old style everytime... I am not a stereotypical poet and there are many hallmarks of traditional poets that are NOT present in me whatsoever...

I dont attend a lot of mushayaras, as I dont want the same ten, twenty poets to listen to my stuff and I dont have the aptitude & patience of digesting the poetry coming from their side too :-) (I know I am sounding a bit rude but this is what I really am)...

I want my readers to have something new everytime I write... This is the very reason why I am now a days away from writing novel/ afsana/ films reviews and blogging... Plus I was busy with other projects esp The Master Storyteller... Judging itself is a full time job and I dont want to compromise on the quality I give to the work I am associated with...

In short, there is a long list of things that almost intrigued me to stay calm and wait for the next time... Alhamdo LILLAH the right part of time has now arrived and yes I am done with the first draft of my next book.

Insha ALLAH when you will get to read my next book #AMKK (the title of which I am going to announce on Feb 14, 2019), you will defintely observe a change in the overall feel of the book... You will see new topics, new subject matters and new untouched things & phenomenon... Nevertheless I must say, AMKK is the next episode of the very same story which was narrated by me in MBMST...

Fates of recent flops with some big names of industry have proved quite categorically that gone are the days when you could create a brainless entertainer and cine-goers would have jumped in joy. To be honest, I was not confident about Simba in the first place and went to the near theater with simply no expectations at all. Reason being quite simple, I am not at all a fan of Rohit Shetty's cinema but what came to me as a surprise was an exceptional action drama loaded with some amazing music & a bit of romance sprinkled over it.

Don't expect some extraordinary stuff here, as far as the story is concerned. Simba, an orphan with a lion's heart, has chosen to become a policeman, as the only thing he wants is power and he has learned in his childhood that power comes with the uniform. However, his life changes from a notorious policeman to a revenge seeking officer on duty, as he is appointed as in-charge in a police station in Goa. Rest should be watched in the movie, as I don't want to be spoiler.

Simba is all about a tightly written script, translated into a gripping screenplay with some awesome acting prowess shown by some seasonal actors. I would not be wrong, if I say, Simba is all about Ranveer Singh. Ranveer shines and simply bursts out of the 70 mm screen with his energy & bravura performance. Indeed, he has come a long way in acting department and I shall give the due share of credit for this to Sir Sanjay Leela Bhansali, whose assignments (Raam Leela, Bajirao Mastani & Padmaavat) has taught Ranveer, how to bring the best out of him. Sara Ali Khan looks beautiful & decent in the short role, but I feel, she could have done much better in acting especially she struggles in the romance department. Sonu Sood, Asutosh Rana, Siddhartha Yaadav and the supporting cast did exceptionally well. Cameos of Ajay Devgan as Singham and Akshay Kumar is a pleasant surprise.

Music by a bunch of musicians (Tanishk Bachi, Lijo George, DJ Chetas and S Thaman) with lyrics of (Shabbir Ahmed, Rashmi Virag, Kumaar & Kunal Verma) is appealing and goes smoothly with the story. Track Ankh Marey is an excellent foot tapping number with cameo appearances by Team Golmaal. Tere Bin is a recreated version of Sir Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan sb's classical track. Aala Re Aala & Simba theme plays in the background just enhances the overall flavor.

As in the early products of Rohit Shetty, this time yet again you get to see some stunning visuals, courtesy Jomon T. John's eye catching cinematography. Editing is also crisp. Action scenes have been choreographed nicely and they have a signature of Rohit Shetty's action.

Dialogues are just about perfect. Some scenes in the movie leaves with you even after you leave the theater. The coming of age from notorious happy go lucky mischievous Policeman to reasonable revengeful officer on duty is a treat to watch. See the scenes where Ranveer asks the old man to slap him, as he was never slapped in childhood by his father as he was orphan. To me, it was perhaps the best scene of the movie.

Overall, I believe, Rohit Shetty has learned so much from his mistakes in last ventures and no doubt, Simba is his best work till date.My verdict, Simba is a winner in every department. Go, watch it just for an electrifying performance by Ranveer.
