Bollywood Top 5 Films of 2015- Picked by Shoby
As the year 2015 is just about to conclude and we are done with almost all of the films of the year, let me share the best of Bollywood in my opinion. In this feature, I am going to reveal my most favourite films of 2015. First thing first, these ratings are based on entirely my own observation, likings/ disliking, so you may agree with me or not, however your views are equally respected. :-)
Number 5... Shamitabh- Maverick film maker R Balki gave us this spectacular product telling an unorthodox story of a deaf mute wannabe actor (Dhanush). We saw Dhanush having a brilliant camaraderie & on-screen chemistry with Amitabh Bachchan. This is no doubt another gem of a film from Balki in which he explored Dhanush in an altogether different manner. Big B was perfect in the role of a drunkard deprived actor/ sound artist. Akshara Haasan was a find and she did total justice to her role. This movie stands at number 5 in my ratings.
Number 4... Manjhi-The Mountain Man- Ketan Mehta made a come back in this biographical film where story of the unsung hero Dashrath Manjhi was told in a beautiful. This film became much more attractive & influential with Nawazuddin playing the role of his lifetime. His pitch perfect dialogue delivery along with the best art direction delighted me. Ketan made us see the era of 60s and 70s in this make-belief cinema.
Number 3... Tanu Weds manu Returns- After the stupendous success of Tanu Weds Manu & Raanjhna, Anand L Rai came up with the sequel of Tanu Weds Manu and by far this rom-com drama was the film having the best screenplay of the year. Kangana Ranaut stole the show with her Haryanvi avtar. Whole cast of the team gave superb performances to make it a well deserving hit of the year. Deepak Dobriyal, Jimmy Shergill & R. Madhavan gave their career best performances in their author backed roles.
Number 2... Baahubali- The Begining- What I termed as the best thing ever happened to Tamil/ Telugu cinema, first episode of Baahubali was undoubtedly cinema at its prime best. With an excellent art direction, superb cinematography, bravura acting performance & jaw dropping direction, Baahubali got everything that can please the audience with utmost authenticity. This is why it made to the the second spot in my most favourite list.
Best Film of 2015... Bajirao Mastani- No points for guessing in this slot, as iconic Sanjay Leela Bhansali gave us this cinematic poetry, a period romance drama where Ranveer Singh was re-discovered by the maverick director. Deepika, Priyanka & Tanvi Azmi stunned everyone with their solid performances. This film had the best dialogues, art direction, choreography, set & costume designing and musical score composed by Bhansali sb himself. Needless to say that is the best movie of the year 2015.
Apart from above listed, some other movies were also successful in making their presence felt. Debutant director Sharat Kataria's slice of life drama Dum Laga Ke Haisha was an excellent movie with a wow chemistry between Bhumi Pednekar & Ayushman Khurana.
Drishyam was a perfect thriller by Nishikant Kamat. Shoojit Sircar's Piku was also impressive.
Unfortunatley some big names of the industry disappointed me especially Imtiaz Ali in his Tamasha and SRK in Dilwale . I hope they come better in the years to come.
