Bajirao Mastani Dilwale Opening Business- Analysis by Shoby

Bajirao Mastani Dilwale Opening Business- Analysis by Shoby

When two giants face  each other for a one on one combat, there arises expectations much more than what one has expected. Same is the case with the on screen clash of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani and Rohit Shetty's Shahrukh Khan starrer Dilwale.

We are living in the age where it is almost normal for a big budget (big banner) movie to make 100 odd crores and now the race of more than 200 in fact 300 crore has begun. Amir Khan and Salman Khan have tasted 300 crore earnings for movies like PK and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, whereas Shahrukh Khan's Chennai Express grossed more than 200 crore.

Lifetime business of a movie depends heavily on the earnings of first day and therefore opening business is always in focus when it comes to big projects. Needless to say that everyone was eyeing on first day's business of both Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani.

Although both of these films have done magnum in box office by gathering their share and pulled audience to the theatres in good numbers, however due to certain reasons business of both got effected (read divided).

As expected Dilwale (with 3000 screens) emerged as a winner of the race and collected almost 21 crores whereas Bajirao Mastani managed to gross 12.80 crore. Now Dilwale is all times number 16th on the basis of day one business and Bajirao Mastani is Ranveer Singh's third top grosser (first day business only) after Gundey and Goliyon Ki Raasleela- RaamLeela, respectively.

Cinema has won in this intense battle between two giants but no doubt, business has been effected greatly. Had these two film were given a solo release, they would surely had grossed much more than what they have earned yesterday.
